No need for a straight anything, because no one is oppressed for being heterosexual. (I'm sure you can dissect that last sentence and refute it, but you know what I mean).
And yes, hate crimes is what we all have to watch out for if you are gay. Very sad. I'm glad I'm safe though, but I do have to stay on guard.
