Left for Christmas and came back to some serious problems

I watered the plant Christmas morning, it was fine when I left, nice and green and healthy. When I got back this afternoon, it looked how it does in the pictures. The leaves are wilting from the top, so I suppose the new growth is being hit first. This kind of makes me think it is a deficiency. I checked my pH meter, and it was out of sync, so I calibrated it and hopefully that will help with the pH. I flushed the plant with 4 gallons of water pH'd to 6.2, the runoff started at 5.3 and is now at 5.5.

The leaves appear to be wilting from the inside out. It is starting along the main vein of the leaf, and creeping outwards towards edges and tip.

Anyone recognize what this could be? I've also been having a slight thrips problem. I sprayed with Pyrethrin spray a week and a half ago and nothing has happened so I don't think it is that.

Also, some stats
It's in a 3 gallon pot, growing in coco. The strain is AK-48. I water at a pH of 6.2, and no EC meter. I generally water every 3 days, when it is starting to feel light. As of right now, I believe it is in week 5 of flowering.

I really don't understand what has happened. Everything was going so good lately, then bam. I was gone for just over 24 hours

Looks like you had a long hot spell and fried them. If it was a def you should of seen it before you left. Just get pH back and hope they bounce back. Best of luck man.

Yep what Warlock says. I'd clip all the dead shit too. It's gonna try to put too much energy in fixing the Unfixable dead parts and slow the bud growth. A Def wouldn't happen just over a day. Not even in hydro but heat (and cold) issues can set in rather quickly

I don't know how it could be a hot spell over one day. There are a few pics in there of when it was healthy, those pics are only 4 days old, and it was in the same, if not worse, conditions. I put a stand up fan in there 2 days ago so if anything it should of been cooler.

I flushed it, the pH runoff went from 5.3 to 5.5, I'm hoping the next couple of waterings will bring the runoff a bit higher. I'll try dropping the strength of the nutes and watering every 2 days.

I also foliar fed it with a kelp extract tonight to try and breath a little bit of moisture into those crackly leaves.

bummer dude. deff looks like they got hot and thirsty. I know you said you watered them before you left, but are u sure? did u just give em a splash and not a healthy drink? Either way, feel bad, hate seeing girls look so depressed...

Looks like they got hot. Same thing happened few months back.
Harvested buds were less dense and some burnt crisp sections had to be cut off.

Maybe do a foliar feed an hour before lights turn on to add moisture and make sure the temps are good.

Hi - been checking this thread and not commented because it's a weird one.

It is not a deficiency - absolutely not. That does not happen in 24 hours because of a def.

It is not burning or too hot/close to the light because it's only the leaves - as far as I can see from your pics, which are pretty good. The buds haven't suffered at all.

I don't know all your practices, but you say everything's been fine up till this episode - and my guess is that you had high temperatures, high enough to make you think to change one thing before you went off for a day and a bit - can you think what that was? I can - it's ^^^^ up there^^^^ it's this: I put a stand up fan in there 2 days ago so if anything it should of been cooler.

I think you've given your plants wind burn - look it up. Those leaves are quite sensitive to having hot air blown at them, which explains why the bud looks ok - for now. The bud is a greater mass compared to skinny leaf.

Oh - and checking the run-off water isn't the right way to check ph, ec or anything else. I haven't seen a single person on this site explain how to do those tests correctly - and I'm not wasting my time with it here. There's a lot of bad practices going on around and about - and bad information. It's easy to find the right way to test - you just need to research it in the right places.

Edit: the only reason I put the fan in there was because I thought she might enjoy a bit more circulation. I did notice a slight bit of transpiration - the edges of the fan leaves were turning up slightly, I guess that should of clued me in. Oh well, beginners mistake! I got a seedy bag of dank the other day, counted 20 seeds so far. Going to start a bunch tonight.

Just be a bit careful about all that stuff you're chucking in - she likely doesn't need it.....don't worry about your rh, not at 20, and especially not in flowering - think of it as a blessing - imagine if it was always at 70-80!! Aaaargh!!! If you need to increase rh - and that goes well for a bit of vegging - it's easy - just put a bowl of water in range of the light - and watch that meter go up....simples.
Just remember that a fan isn't cooling anything - it's sucking hot air up its arse and spitting it out the face - there's no cooling going on there - and 30 c is hot air! You've been diagnosed and the prognosis is good - so don't do it again because your plant looks pretty bloody good - well done (never mind the little fan blip)!! Cheers buddy!

The moisture was a secondary objective, she has really liked the kelp extract foliar feeding throughout this grow. It's a shame none of the first batch of clones I took from it turned out (my first time), and with the RH being so low (along with my lack of knowledge about cloning and watering clones, next time!), after I took the humidity dome off, the next morning they had shriveled so terribly they just wouldn't come back. One had definitely started to root, it had some nice fat ones sticking out the bottom of the rockwool cube.

What I am planning on doing, as I have no seeds of this strain left, is re-vegging her after harvest, taking clones to grow a mother, flowering her and the rest of the clones and then starting a perpetual grow with a harvest every 3 weeks. I am keen on using this strain, as it is quite hardy, stays relatively short, very, very little stretching and is a fast finisher. I have seen many reports on harvests being done at 7 weeks.

This plant is my first (other then the few seedlings that didn't make it and one plant that I can't remember exactly what killed it), and has had a different sort of life. She was vegged for two months as I could not flower her at that time, and finally switched to flower about a month ago. Everything was going so great up till now too. I'm really hoping she picks back up soon. I'm going away again for a day and a bit, but no fan this time and she has plenty of water to last her.

Definitely did not overfeed. I have been feeding it the same thing for quite some time now, and she loves every second of it. Also, the distance between the light and plant hasn't changed, I move it up as the plant goes up. The ambient temperature of the closet also hasn't changed. Also, if it was a light burn, why would the buds remain largely unaffected as they have? Another thing to point out is that leaves on the lower sections of the plant have also been affected by this malady, which I can't see happening from a simple light burn. I did burn the plant slightly while it was in it's vegetative state - how the leaves have shriveled this time is in no way similar to how they were affected last time.

I trimmed off a bunch of the dead stuff - I'm not sure, if it is just a continuation of the previous damage, or if she is getting worse, but comparing pictures from the 26th to now, it appears the condition may have worsened. I'll give it a few more days to pass judgement.

Yeah look at how the tops are all dry but the bottom is ok how far into flowering are you ?

If your late enough just cut off the worse leaves and try to not let the temps get over 26c again you might have had a power cut while you were away or your fan stop or something.

Try to get your temps down and your airflow up enough so that you can spray them without risking mould, just cut off the worse leaves cos they start rotting and then spray and try to keep stress levels down my guess is they`ll probably hermi but just do what you can to treat the shock now and do everything you can to pimp up the root zone and help them recover

You`ll still get some bud off them if your careful, still I like to have someone check my plants daily or every few days when I`m away but I live with people that grow too so it`s very easy for me.
