Some rather noob outdoor questions...

For starters, I have grown before. I started with indoor about 2-3 years ago, grew 6 plants at a time, 4 went through to flowering and I got a decent (not great by any means) amount of herb off the amount of CFL's I used at the time. About a year ago I also grew a single plant outdoors (from bag seed), I planted it during August or so and didn't realize that flowering times were coming up, so the thing started flowering really young and I ended up with about an eighth of bud.

I also live in Florida, by the way.

Right now I have a new seed sprouting that I plan to grow out. It is bag seed, and I realize it's a bad time of year to plant if I plan on vegging the girl at all (not sure if it is female, but I do hope so) but I don't really care I'm curious to try and grow this girl 12/12 from seed like I did with the last outdoor grow. But my questions are, what kind of nutes should I use on a plant that is going straight 12/12 from seed outdoors? I used to own a crap ton of expensive hydro and soil nutes from my indoor growing days, but unfortunately I am all out of those. I used to use Liquid Karma for rooting the seeds (or clones, LK is the SHIT for clones I had 100% success with every clone I tried using some method I found and some LK), then FF vegging line during veg, and some Advanced Hydro (I think) bloom nutes. But now I am limited to only bone meal and shitty non-organic ferts (I refuse to use non-organic).

I was wondering if I should add bone meal to this baby? Will it help the flowering or vegging from the get-go? Also should I practice any form of LST for outdoor plants? I don't want to stress her at all for the fact that she MAY hermi, but when I grew indoors I usually always used LST, then SCROG once they got big enough. I also topped them quite a few times during veg.

Should I top this girl as well? Seeing as she is going straight into 12/12, would it be a good or bad idea?

Thanks for the help in advance, I do have more questions but I can't think of them at the moment. Stoner mentality I guess.

Edit: Also, my plant right now is in a small cup (until the roots from) then I shall transplant her to another pot (a net pot to be exact) rather than directly into the ground.

Bone meal is good, I like it.
I am guessing your throwing her out side some where away from your house? If not you could put a milky clean plastic film over her to keep the way away some. Should help her grow outdoors. You can grow her out side where you live. Some people are. But its not really going to be the best grow of your life. Each to their own. I am going to do a outdoor grow but it started getting a tad extra cold around here this year for me. watch out, I go to FL in Jan each year and it was snowed on me there. No keep that in the back of your mind. I wouldnt do much to her, even being its a winter grow she is not going to get big and tall so there might not really be a large need to even LST her anyway.
Just a few food for thoughts.

Bone meal will attract bugs. I live in Fl and through experience using blood and bone meal its just not worth the fight. One time I had a raccoon completely dig my plant up. Right now its much wetter than the norm for this time of year,(Im in south florida) as i was just out today scouting some new woods. So make sure if you are going to the woods with her shes in a high spot.

You should be able to get one top in before the plant fully matures and starts to flower, after that its a no go.

The days are gonna switch and start getting longer this weekend. It wont matter at first but I wonder if it would mess with the flowering process later on? I wouldnt mess with topping the plant, with going straight to flower its probably gonna stay pretty small anyways. Im not sure where you are in FL but unless youre near the coast in the south watch out for cold temps, anything freezing or even near it could mess a small plant up..and the next month and a half are usually the coldest part of the year

Yea I forgot about the pest thing with bone meal. I dont have that issue where I live so i goes in one ear and out the other.
-sorry.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

I live in central Florida, on the west coast, this plant is going to be in a pot in my back yard, so if freezing temps are coming I will put her inside. I was curious about bonemeal and outdoors because the last time I kept a bag of bonemeal in my backyard for a week or so, something got into it and destroyed that bag covering the whole backyard with bonemeal everywhere! It sucked and smelled horrid after it got wet and whatnot.

Needless to say, I do know the plant won't get big but for the time I have I want to get the best out of her. I do have a small watt CFL set up still I could technically veg under that but I am talking super low watts, won't get much growth via those CFL anyhow.

Okay just an update, I decided to throw the baby under CFL when darkness comes, just to veg crap out for longer. But I will need to flower outdoors soon as flowering indoors in not a possibility due to the lights I have being insufficient. I really need to invest in an HPS but I moved back in with my rents. My dad has no clue I smoke or grow, and my mom honestly doesn't care if I do either or. SO it's hard to hide it from my dad so an HPS is kind of useless for the time being.

well if you only got an eighth off any plant you were doing something wrong. you should really at least get a ounce off any plant even 12/12 from a seed.
use veg nutes till signs of flowering then switch to flowering nutes.
i would deff top the plant since your doing 12/12 from a seed. plants gonna be somewhat small so anything you can do to increase yield will do wonders. i would top after the 3rd or 4th set of leafs.

I didn't say that, I said I got an eighth off the one outdoor plant I grew that was at 12/12 from seed and I know I chopped her a bit early (maybe 3 weeks or so early) but that plant was not going to get that much more bud on it. I don't know the exact weights but it looked like just over an eighth. I'll post pics of that plant here in a minute so you can see, the bud was okay, not great though. I grew it mostly to fuck around.

So this seed I'm growing now, according to what you said, should have at least an Oz on it by the time she gets chopped? I find that hard to believe when the plant gets so little time to veg. Like I said about my last plant, didn't look like she was going to get any bigger or any fatter.

So anyone got more tips? Should I try and put this baby out during the day then when night hits put her under 40 watts CFL? I'm just looking at ways to increase veg time. But at the same time I will need to flower her outside so I don't know what to do. :(

Can you get maybe 1 23 watt 6500k cfl a week? If you could id say veg her indoor

Honestly, probably. But that would cut back on my smoke money that I spend currently. I used to have so many CFL's but I gave them to a friend that moved away a couple months ago. It sucks as I have him a fair bit of CFL shit and I doubt he will ever use it because he owns an HPS, oh well though. I really want to get a 100 watt CFL for either flowering or veg, but right now I can't afford it. Unfortunately I am broke and living off student loans. The plant is now being put outside during the day and run under 30+ watts of CFL at night (during the cold and whatnot). Growing healthy but has a hell of a lot of way to go seeing as how she is only on her third node lol. I will post pics when crap gets underway though. Still keeping fingers crossed that the plant is a female.

Oh god it has been too cold out the past 2-3 days. At least cold by Floridian standards. I like the cold but not if it gets under 65 degrees haha.

But as for update on the plant, she is still small (obviously) working on growing out her second node , and her third node just popped out. For the past 4 nights I have been keeping her outside during the day, then putting her under small CFL at night (to keep her warm and prevent flowering for a little while so she can at least veg a bit). I added a small layer of bone meal and covered it with more soil/compost to give her a tiny bit of nutes.

The soil I use is made mostly of homemade compost (make about a trashcan amount per year), so it's actually very nice for growing most plants in.

I still haven't transferred her yet as there really isn't a point. I'm going to need some sort of bloom nutes though when it gets to be that time.

I am just hoping she's a girl. I may also top her too before she stars flowering but that's still in the air at this point.

Okay guys, according to my outdoor light schedule calendar, I have until march 16th before the lights switch over to 12/12 (or more sunlight) so I have about 2 and a half months to flower.

Right now the girl is inside the box in my room under CFL, but I plan to put her outside either tonight or tomorrow. Anyone think I will have enough time to flower her out in the period? Also, anyone want to try and estimate my yield beforehand?

10 weeks should be enough. Theres no way to tell your yield right now, I dont even have a picture to work with nevermind all the factors that will play into your final result

Yeah I know just wanted to see who could guess closest if she ends up pulling through.

I'll post some pics later today or something.

and Merry Christmas erryone!

That's how I started growing, in my backyard in Ft. Lauderdale over a decade ago. I can help U when I return later, you cannot put that in the ground until at least March...and if you do you'll have a 20 foot monster by August. I did it once and had to top like 5 times cuz' it was outgrowing my 8 foot privacy fence...and I was 4 blocks from the police department...lol.

Peace
