My tap today was 7.5 and 375ppm which is way high on the ppm, I'm usually in the 185 range. I'll still use it though, I just subtract it off my total ppm.

Bam! And there it is :) ill fill her up tomorrow! It's a 1gal smart pot. I used Dixie cups to start some seeds this time so there's less soil. I figure once a week or whenever the plate looks gross ill swap in a clean one. If needed ill use a deeper dish, this will be for now.
Okay supchaka. You've inspired me man. I've got a 3gal bag, I'm gonna take it down to the hardware store and find a bucket that fits the bottom best. Then cut it off 2 1/2" up and put a notch in the new lowered edge down to about 2". Thanks for putting the idea out there. I'm interested in the watering frequency with perlite in a bag, please keep us posted.

Been away for 6 days on a trip to see family during the 2nd week of flower of my Pineapple Express grow. I left my wife in charge with lots of instructions on how to lift the lights daily during the "stretch" and when to water with nutes that I had premixed. Last night I called and she says with some concern...."there's all these fuzzy balls all over them that weren't there the day before". I laughed my ass off....guess she never saw any of the previous grows unless they were smaller plants or fully loaded with cola's.

I've been logging some run-off readings, as you all know I use OC in the medium. So I've been checking the ph & EC of feed water and checking the run-off. I've been mixing up 2gal of water per event, this will give me a solid quart/liter of run-off. (I know its excessive but gives a good clean sample)

My feed water is real consistent, because it has no nutrient salts in it. All feedings start out Ph - 6.8 / EC .68

Below a list of run-off readings (this bucket was built on 11/15)

12/1 - ph 5.3 / ec 2.08
12/4 - ph 5.7 / ec 1.86
12/7 - ph 5.9 / ec 1.49
12/12 - ph 5.9 / ec 1.76
12/14 - ph 6.1 / ec 1.50

This shows me several things.
Using OC in coco there is no need for ph adjustments. (gonna check my next perlite bucket)
OC will release and feed as much as the plant can use, but this leads to less duration. (In the last 3 days I've seen fading, she needs more food)
I also took a couple of between watering samples of the rez, and it showed a ph drift upwards, and an ec that dropped only slightly. I need more of these samples before I make a WAG (wild ass guess)

Tonight is water time, I'm gonna spike the water.
EDIT: Stopped post to eat drink water & be merry. Added PK (no N) In water ph 6.6 ec .98 / run-off ph 5.5 ec 1.7

Here she is Maui-Thunder day 31.5;; Normally (with 3 to 4 plants) I will remove a lot of the side branches, but since it's solo I pulled the sides to the center.
These are flash shots right after lights out, I seem to get more true color, and interesting shadows.

Watt, she's looking very nice. Also, is that following the main-line method? I noticed the tomato wire and it made me think of it. Your PH data on the OC+ is excellent. It proves what I've been thinking all along with just watering with non-PH'ed RO water. I have 3 clones in the cloner right now that I am going to run with OC+ as a test. They need to be sexed, and I know that OC+ would be a nice experiment. (Regardless of the turn out, the moms are topped and growing more nodes by the day.)

Are you using any additives along with the OC+? You ran a PK -N feed with the OC+?

My perlite is so fine if I rinsed it Id lose half of it, so it goes in dry and thats it. It got a rinse, but in the cloth, then a final flush with nutes.

Not sure I'm following what's being done here. Does the hole go in the smartpot? What kind of material is that? Look's intriguing for sure!

what is oc?
Osmocote, it's a CRF (Control Released Fert). DocBud, over at 420mag, did several grow journals where he detailed a side by side comparison of OC+ vs Advanced Nutrients. DocBud also showed OC+ in a hempy vs soil. Basically, the hempy OC+ stayed green all the way into harvest with a bigger yield than the soil grow.

The entire pot is just thick cloth, water falls right through it. So in this case the plate becomes my "hempy res" Its an inch deep and Ill water till its nearly overflowing. Then when the plates dry, I water again. I'll switch to a deeper plate if needed, and swap in clean plates when they get cruddy with evaporated nutes n shite.

Well with the other plant I watered it a little every day just to keep things moist up top, figure Ill do the same with this one till I know its roots are well to the bottom. If this works out even half way decent Id imagine all my future grows would go this way, never have to pick up another pot checking weight. If the plates grubby, change it when dry so the plants at its lightest. (yes Im a bit gimpy physically) I already like the idea better than my 1st hempy thats only a week old :) If nothing else, I may consider doing something similar with a solid pot and a plate type res.

What about algae growth from still water with nutrients? Since I don't currently have a means to drain my tub, the standing water gets a bit like pond water after day. However, the plate will drain after about a day in a half (depends on heat/dryness in the room). Will be interesting to see how often the cruddy plates need replacing. This has some definite potential though. I'm looking forward to seeing this progress :)

Yeah I think it may need alot of water but I did find the perlite to hold quite a bit before it finally came out the bottom I put like a quart into it and it still didnt drip. I dont think it will be around long enough for algae to be a problem, but Im speaking from my ass of course cuz I have no idea :) My runoff is really clear too, that CNS17 is funky, like white peptol bismol goin in.

Yes I'm loosely following the main lining concept. I left on branch of a lower node on this one and all the side branches, I would have trimmed them all off if I had more plants in the area.

For additives I add cal/mag because my water just needs it, also superthrive just during veg, and floralicious plus with all waterings.

For the pk boost I used Cha-Ching 9-50-10 so it still does have a little N in it.

Got my order from xmas special at the Tude. When I opened the package the C99 pack was empty. This is my second order with them and the first one had a crushed seed. Not having very good luck. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with them? Is there a better place to order? The first time they said they'd replace the broken seed and include freebies if I place another order. I understand accidents happen, but this is two orders in a row.

I've read the seeds can be hard to find in the package. Sounds stupid, but did you look EVERYWHERE!
That was my first thought. Each strain was in its own sealed bag. They were wrapeed in bubble wrap inside a coffee mug and wrapped in bubble wrap avain. I went as far as to completely take the box apart and didn't find it. All the other seeds look great. I sent them an email, hopefully I'll hear back soon. Has anyone used revolution seed bank? I just found them online and they seem pretty cheap. I'm gonna do some more looking on them.

That's so weird that everything came but a bag was empty, you'd think if it was tampered with that everything would be missing. Good luck though!
