Is there anything that would have stopped Adam Lanza from the massacre?

Yeah, but the one thread that runs through all of these shootings is insanity. Maybe the most effective solution to the problem of massacres is incarceration of crazy people? How do you implement something like that in a "free" society? Even that won't completely solve the problem though.
I think that people should be given the choice to opt out of competitive economy and just fucking collect a check. I think that the unwillingness to compete for survival is a disability and that a structure should exist by which this can be diagnosed. They would be living off of tax dollars, they would occupy the lowest socioeconomic strata. Those that do wish to compete would then have more customers. There should be no stigma on it, only rewards for creative visions of upward mobility. We should collectively help each other, not individually compete. If you want to be the richest person, you should be the one working harder than everyone else imo.

a gun safe.
I own two of them. They help.

The simple reality, though, is that nothing is going to stop these things from happening. Crazy people are going to do crazy things. Think back to all of the massacres that have happened; all done by crazy people.

I was wondering how many crazy school mass shooting there were in the 60's and 70's, when people actually took guns to school with them?
I remember a show and tell where a kid brought his dad's S&W .357 magnum to school. It was cool and no one was scared, he didn't even have any ammo and the teacher made him keep it in her desk til school was out for the day.

We all had rifles and shotguns hanging in the back windows of our farm trucks in the school parking lot, many of us went hunting in the early morns before school started. The only school shooting I can recollect prior to 1997 is the Kent State deal where the soldiers opened fire on students and killed innocent bystanders.

Irresponsible owners who do not instill the proper respect for firearms on their posterity can be somewhat to blame.

I think dear Adam was mentally ill...his Mom maybe should not have left the guns out...besides I left home at 19.
Sooo mentally ill folks are not responsible for their actions? Their parents are?

What evidence do you have that his mom just left guns laying about?

If my 63 year old mentally handicapped cousin shoots someone its my dead Aunts fault?

Yes, its everyone else fault and mainly the guns that told em to kill everyone, but except the shooter should be fault free.

last night my gun was talking to me, "dave said for me to take him to the range if not he was going to get rowdy up in this bitch"

with all the talk on "gun control" why is it that I have never heard anything about "ammunition control"... I mean, if the price of a .223 round jumped up to some exorbitant amount would people still be using them? Put some regulations on the type and quantity of bullets and make the home reloading set-ups illegal so that any and all ammo purchases need to be documented. Share this info with the proper authorities and actually make use of the ATF by having them check up on the red flagged people buying a certain type or certain quantity of ammo...

So, gun prohibition via ammunition prohibition?
