Questions Re: Harvesting a full-fledged Herm.

Hello World!

Before anyone asks, yes I now know it was not a very smart move to let it progress this far, but I thought I'd learn something from it (and I did... My allergy to pollen is much worst than I had known, amongst other things).

But what's done is done, and it's time to chopper. As you'd expect, the buds are nice and big, somewhat frosted, and have bananas coming out of every nook & cranny (didn't expect this many, can take some nice hi-res pics if anyone is interested). I learned a lot from letting her go so I don't consider it a loss (even though the others are now going to be seedy, still don't think it's a loss, though I'll never do that again).

My questions are:

Is there any way to safely separate these many nanners from the buds?

I'm going to be turning it into BHO, will it affect it if I don't make a vigilant effort to separate the nanners before I do this?

How stupid am I?

I already plan on trying the water-cure method (not for the cure but as an effort to reduce the pollen count on the buds), would this cause the nanners to open in the water?

Any insight on harvesting something this atrocious is appreciated. The buds do have a nice amt of resin on them and they will certainly produce some effective BHO. (I have others that have nanners here and there but aren't full-on herms like this one)

She was a bagseed (they all are) that I decided to go 12/12 from seed with just to see what would happen (never doing this again until I know I have a strain that plays nice with it, though it could just have been that it was bagseed that caused it, I'd rather play it safe as this is the only cycle I'm going to do all the crazy things people say not to do... this is how I learn). I haven't had anything to puff on since my last crop ran out so I just really need this one to hold me off until the next one.

Thanks for stopping by!

P.s. Unrelated but thought I'd mention it: 12/12 from seed using Happy Frog soil from the get go, I never had to feed them once. Applied Myco about 2 months in, and superthrive on 2 of 'em as they were showing some stress (picked 'em right up in 2 days).

i think you have the worng idea about hermies man, first of all all the pollen sacs do is pollinate the buds then the buds grow seeds. they dont effect the quality of the herb just the quanity. you can pick the naners off with teezers or just clip them with fine pointed scissors.

once you harvest the plants just trim as many naners off as you can, leving them on wont make a bit of difference in your BHO, remove as many seeds as possible though as you will get more oil out of a can of butane if theres not 50% seeds in there.

your seeds i would say are garbage, given the sound of it they all hermied which means that the hernie trait is pretty strong in them and chances are you will get more hermies (possible you wont too but i doubt it)

you shoukd think about ordering some qualiuty fem seeds from a reputable breeder..

sorry for the bad pic, didn't think moving her around was a good idea (pollen Everywhere.) I'm trying to disturb it as less as possible as I'm allergic to the stuff.

I've heard that about removing the nanners with tweezers and such, but now i feel that anyone that says that hasn't seen a true herm. There is no way in hell that any amount of time will allow me to remove each nanner with a pair of tweezers. Where I'm used to seeing calyx clusters there are clusters of nanners, and I feel that it's a lot of area where there would have been THC production instead of the plant material that develops into nanners (which has almost 0 trichs at all under a loupe). I have plans of turning it all into BHO so it's all good, as long as the pollen won't get washed down into the BHO I'm okay with letting it be.

That is the worst Herm I have ever seen!!!! The plant almost looks like it's a male!!! You must have had MAJOR stress in your grow room! I've grown 6 Hermahprodites, and none of mine even came close to looking like this. In fact, I had to struggle to find the nanners in the buds. That plant alone could ruin your entire grow.

I would say, your problem was more of a Stress induced Herm rather than a Strain induced Herm.

I'd agree but there has been no stress (other than 12/12 from seed). It was growing nice, flowering nicely, then it went from having nice filling buds/colas to having nanners coming out of every cm.

That may be the reason (12/12 since seed).

Anybody know if cold temps can cause hermies? Recently had a plant herm out, and I haven't really had hermie problems until it got colder. My ghetto closet is in an unheated basement room...
