thank you for the help i really appreciate it iv been reading up on scrog i have the supplies to do it i just wanna get my watering, feeding, and light height and stuff down first. im gunna do what one of the replys said and thats start with a small grow i got some seeds from friends over time and will try a grow from there im gunna let them get about 15in in veg then flower so hopefully they only get about 50 in max
so you're gonna start with bagseed? if so be careful on how long u veg them. some plants triple in size or more in flower. if you're growing with bagseed there is no tellin wat it'll develop into once you hit 12/12. if it were me i'd flower once they are 8-12inches.
remember most hps lights dont penetrate deep enough into the canopy so if you grow a big plant you'll have big buds on top and fluffy crap on the bottom. hence the sog/scrog methods designed to eliminate most of that and make the most use of your space/light
sog interested me to i just dont know how to clone nor do i have the lil machine to do it with
cloning can be done "on the cheap". you dont need a machine. you COULD use one. but its not needed.
i just got my very first clone setup. all i bought was a cloning tray and dome...rockwool cubes and cloning solution. the tray and dome were about $5 total the cubes were cheap (came in a 45 or 50 pack) the solution is most expensive with most hovering around the $20 range.
i bought all the supplies at htgsupply (.com)
a cloning machine will work too but they are more expensive.
a good way to test out the waters for cheap. whats better is your clone box will be satisfied with a minimal investment in lights. either a 2ft t5 bulb or a cfl or two.
you can experiment with cloning by simply taking a cutting off a plant in veg...dipping it in the cloning solution...putting it in the rockwool cube...placing it in the dome and keeping the humidity at 100% and the temps 75-80. keeping it humid in there isnt hard with a few squirts from a waterbottle or placing small amounts of water in the cracks of the trays.
once you see roots coming out of the bottom of the rockwool cube its ready for transplant into soil (rockwool cube & all).
all clones are as old as the plants you took the clone from...so if you veg a plant for 30 days and take a clone...the clone is just as old.
the benefit to this in SOG is you can take a clone (6 inches tall for example) and once it roots you can put it in soil and switch to 12/12 and it will flower immediately. if you try 12/12 from seed the plant wont begin to produce pistils for about 2 wks since from seed a plant isnt mature enough right away to produce flowers...by using clones you can flower short plants. when you flower the plants at such a short height it will mainly produce just a main cola with maybe 1 or 2 side branches.
by doing that you can pack the plants in to where all the pots are touching each other and you should have minimal interference from neighboring plants. this way your canopy stays short and its full of main colas so your yield per sq ft will jump dramatically.
im currently in the process of doing a similar grow.
i have a 150w hps for flowering (separate room than my vegging plants) in which i intend to do a SOG grow.
i have a 2ft 4 bulb t5 system for vegging. with it i intend to veg a plant in a 3 gal container for about 6wks. then i will take cutting and root those clones in my clone box. during the time the cuttings are in the clone box they will occupy the 2ft 4bulb t5 while another seed is being germinated to take the place of it once the clones are rooted and ready for flower.
thats how my system is working. its my first go around with this new setup so ill see how it goes but i have tons of experience flowering with 2 600s.
