Uh, no thats not true at all. There is nothing in this picture to indicate the sex of your plant.

the fastest way to know is putting it into 12/12. that way you will probably see the sex within a week. afterwards you can just switch your lights back to veg hours
I heard switching from veg to flower and back is a ton of stress on the plant...
But ya, I'd say nothing says sex in your pic yet. I had 3 plants, all 3 were generally agreed to be female, but 2 are male, the other Im still vegging into a monter...
If you're really curious, you can take a cutting from a lower node, stick it in some PH'd water/soil and put it in DIY cloner under 12/12 lighting. I've seen vids showing sexing from cuttings without even roots. Otheriwse clone for roots for a week or 2, then 12/12 for another week. By the time you're ready to flower you'll already know if it's worth it!

OP, try some better shots...
do you know what a preflower is?? If not, do some googling and find out where a preflower is located... Then, search for some preflowers... take several pics of all preflowers and post them here. I find that I usually see my first preflowers about mid plant, the first node set on the branch off of the main stock.... then they start showing up a branch set higher, then lower.
If there are no preflowers then it is too early to tell. Even in the earliest stages of the preflower it is hard to say 100%... with it being a picture on the web, it will be even more difficult for us.
Don't believe any of the tallest plant, number of leaves, fastest growing stuff... I have grown some seeds in my time and I find that not one of them (that I have heard) holds up. That includes "males preflower earlier" thing. Not in my experience.

Possibly... given we have only seen a small portion of the plant... that might not be true.
I have found that topping the plant adds to the time it takes to show sex.

Well of course it does. Topping is a major stressor to your plants. That's why it takes time to recover, but well worth it. I honestly fim but you are right we do need better pics.

Interesting. With my Nirvana plants I've found topping to actually induce preflower formation. The first ones invariably show up in the last whole node. cn

My preflowers always form where I top at. I've found that using 5000k bulbs they bounce back nice and show preflowers fairly quick.
