Anyone own or used one of these?

Been busy spending spending spending today on christmas presents and got carried away and bout one of these for myself, i guess it's my christmas present although i know truthfully that my christmas present will be a bottle of bailys.

Reading around it seems that it is a 1/2 1/2 mix of good and bad reviews, largely based on it's reliability, that is to say it's ability to ignite the gas, but from what i've watched and read, a lot of the bad reviews come from folk not reading the instructions thinking "hey it's just a lighter i know what i'm doing" and not doing it properly.

Bit pricey for what it is, but it looks awesome imo, and it has a lifetime warranty which is always great. And if needs be i can chuck it on ebay for a minimal loss.

So anyone got any experience with these?

I had no idea they even made butane ones... but after watching this video.. not sure I am gonna shell out 35$ may just got get 100 cheapo butane torches off ebay... sorry hope the videos not a bummer
let me know once you get yours and see if it is cheaply made..

Seems pretty pricey for a lighter. Also can't adjust the flame, and using any other butane than Zippo Blu voids the warranty. Numerous people saying it fails to light at times. But what the hell do I know, I don't own one. But I thought I'd offer my insight anyways.

As I say, seems half have issues, other half don't. Such as in the video above where according to things I've read, that is lighting it wrong.

Thanks to my gf being the most amazing friend in the world, I could end up with two lol

I got one as stocking stuffer a few years ago but it's way too big and heavy to carry around so it just sits in my desk drawer.

I always have a zippo or zippo replica in a pocket, so weight and size isn't an issue. I have a thing about metal lighters. Don't collect em so to speak but i might as well for the number i have

He he. Toys on the way. Bought myself another imco while I was at it. Bloody awesome petrol lighters for the price, I consider them easily on par with zippos and weigh near nothing depending on model.

No one seems to have much insight so I will let you know what it is like when I get it

I know its a silly price for a lighter, but well, I have a thing about "doing things properly" when I am able to. Its only money :/

I've got better than a dozen of the regular Zippos that I've collected over the years, but never tried one of the Butane.
It's just not the same after you've gotten used to using the regular ones for 30 years.

Indeed, but I like new toys stop bullying me lol always wanted one. Even if they suck, if anything it is just a tool of learning just how stupendously fantastic kuroi is I was being cheese and told her all I wanted for Christmas is you, and then jokingly said and a zippo blu, I then got silly and ordered one for myself and blow me if she hasn't already gone and bought me one in the time frame between me texting her and placing my order an hour later.

She sais this that and the other, but I'm gonna put things straight in public once and for all, kuroi is one of the nicest most thoughtful and caring people you could ever wish to meet, and somehow she's mine life can throw you some crazy curve balls at time. I think that's the phrase you Americans would use isn't it?

I don't like flint lighters. They use anything they find for the flints - neodymium, samarium, cerium, lanthanum... nasty stuff. Then the butane they use is garbage too.
I use a Hakko soldering iron at home. When away I use a refillable electronic spark lighter. You can get them on ebay 10 for $11 or so. I have some of that hemp cord wrapped around my lighters. Vector butane is pretty clean.

Now that I have a vape pen I don't *smoke* away from home much.

I love the feel of my old zippo. Since I quit smoking it is pretty much useless.

The taste or composition of the flints etc doesn't bother me. Its Christmas, its something I want was just interested in its mechanics, operation. I looked at those butane inserts after K mentioned them, but it indeed seemed like mixed reviews, and I have had my Guinness zippo for a decade, and it has gone around the world with me, however few the locations, I'd like to keep it as my regular plain Jane zippo. I buy expensive lighters because I am more inclined not to lose them and I also form sentimental bonds over time

Ah, the bond between a man and his lighter. My buddy carried around a lighter mainly because it had a picture of a turkey on it and grew quite attached to the thing over the years. It was like a death in the family when it finally passed on...

I myself have been using zippos for years now and love em. Not only is it much cheaper than buying a new bic every week ( let's face it our friends pocket lighters and we tend to misplace cheap pieces of plastic). Zippos are much more reliable in my opinion. I work outside all year and in the winter time when its cold as Hell electric or butane lighters seem to have trouble lighting. The taste from the nice old school ones doesn't bother me at all either.

Well i love it. Really can't understand what all the negative reviews are about. Looks great, feels great, and works great. Lights pretty much every time, times it doesn't light are the ones were i forget to say hold down the black button. Even more reliable so far than my imco's which for me, kick zippo windproofs out of the water on lighting reliability. Still trying to kick the habit of sheltering the flame with my other hand while i'm lighting a cigarette lol.

Pricey as heck at £40 for a lighter, but it'll last me till i die or zippo go bust, and it's "christmas" so the expense doesn't bother me at all. If i hadn't wanted it pronto i could have gotten one imported from the US for half the price but i was like a kid, wanted it now!

Can't fault it.

I have this old worn out Zippo that I inherited from my great grandpa, I used to carry it everywhere.

Well I looked up the markings to find out how old it is, I found out it's over 60 years old.... now it stays at home along with the one that has his initials engraved on it.
