A few weeks back I compared the Alu Ducting from 2 different local hydroponic stores. One came in a box and was branded and had clips the other came without box was unbranded and looked cut-to-size. The boxed/ branded Alu Ducting was a much higher quality with far fewer holes. .... I moved the holey ducting onto the 'expel' side of the fan.

..... I have seen round PVC flexible ducting. Obviously this will have no holes. I see this product everywhere online but have not heard of peeps using it in their grow-rooms, I dont know why.

Insulated duct are a pain in the posterior, they are big, cumbersome and quite difficult to fit as well as 3x the $

One thing on tape .. Gorilla tape is too thick for sticking ducting. A thinner more flexible tape works best.

Edit:
I just want to say that although the ducting may look like a christmas tree on the inside. I'm unsure as to how much this will contribute to any odours. ... If you were to combine all those tiny holes into a single hole, it would be unlikely that they would be any larger than a dime. ... would this really make much of a difference?? .... I mentioned the tiny holes previously just to draw your attention to it. I wouldnt worry about it but would focus on other gaps elsewhere.
Here's a picture of my duct work. Just wanted you to visualize what I have going on:

I can't really make heads or tails of whats going on there Dank.

but, Aluminium duct tape isnt the best. Its brittle, but if its holding for you thats all good.

more importantly, I hope that not a loop you have going on there. Whats going on with the second picture? You have warm air being pushed back into the tent? Where are you expelling the stale air too?

Keep temps down in the tent and circulate the air. It's also keeping it quieter by not having the whooshing sound in the room.
Although I wouldn't have that going on at all it looks like it would work better to swap the fan direction. It would pull in air passively and blow it out the wall. For light proofing purposes though I'd remove that whole loop and close those vents off.

I have my fan between the tent and ceiling, pushing air into my attic. The intake air is passive through the lower vents. Obviously temps inside vs outside are factors to how you handle your cooling/exhaust. Being that my home fluctuates much less than outside it makes sense to draw my cooling air from the home.

I don't know your specifics, just throwing some rambles out there!

Moebius, my basement fluctuates between 16-20C. The wall I am pulling from is even colder because its inside the frame of my basement which is all cement. Outside gets down to -10C :) so the air coming into the tent is cool (Hence my wanting a 600 watt). I have a carbon filter that pulls all the air out. This is why I wasn't worried if my aircooled hood pulled in smell. It would just vent back into the tent and out the carbon filter. There's nothing wrong bringing this air back into the tent since its not being recirculated. It's fresh coming from the wall. The air vented from the carbon filter goes into the outside grow room (it's a room with a DR90 and a home made growbox for vegging moms).

Here's a pic of the growbox:

I was always told its better to suck heat out than blow. Is that theory wrong?
no youre not wrong, as in the diagram, warm air is sucked from the growroom and blown out. I'm a little stoned and its gone 3.am, I'll have to try and imagine your setup later. :eyesmoke:

Bloody sweet grow room though. love it.

Hey GUYS,, I'm working my First SCROG.. My Hempy's are 3 Gallons and they seem to be loving the new CMH Bulb setup I installed a couple of weeks ago, based on the Posts here.

Just went with the basic Northern Lights x Big Bud this time around :blsmoke:

100% Perlite
GH Flora Series - 700ppm (.5) on week 4
400w CMH Open Fixture

Nice start on the SCROG Rusty, good to see you over here. Say, I noticed the 3 way PVC connectors offset from the end and It reminded me of my own research I should share here....they now have 3-way connectors just for the corners with 2-90° arms @ horizontal and 1-down just for PVC structural projects,...they even have a 4-way with 1-down & 1-up for multi-level stuff (won't do shit for fluid flow LOL). Believe or not I have an Attitude freebie bean sitting right in front of me that will go into napkins during Xmas vacation ...World of Seeds "Northern Lights X Big Bud Auto Fem"...I haven't shown our WOH brothers my past hempy auto projects away from the photo-period girls ...it will be fun doing another one just for this thread.

Are you going HPS at the 12/12 switch?

great start there. They look like they can be pulled under. My rule is if its long enough to cross a link of screen it's long enough to tuck. You might run into some watering issues when the screen fills up and so close to the pot tops. Once there's growth and whatnot going on it might be snug getting in there.
Instead of Pulling back down through the screen, I have opted to Twist tie them down to the screen. I figure it will give me a little a little more flexibility if I need to re-position a branch. I will say, that I am not diggin the Chicken wire, and wont use it again.

I actually had to special order the 3 and 4, and sometimes i use the 5 way connectors cause Home Depot or Lowes do not carry them. But I find myself making more and more things out of PVC since I have started growing ;-). MY NLxBB was also from World of Seeds, and I only got 2 to pop out of 6,, So not overly impressed with them as a Breeder, but I have been riding off those 2 beans for quite some time. They clone pretty well

Hey Moebius,, I think I am going to keep the CMH rockin right through Flower and leave the HPS on the shelf for this run to see how well it works. This bulb throws a little more heat than I thought, but so far I am able to keep it 6" - 8" from the top of the canopy without the Cool Tube, and nobody seems to be complaining so far,, so I am hoping that eliminating the Glass Barrier will also help get my girls the FULL UV they deserve.:peace:

Dr I think its great if you can use your light heat to regulate your tent temp. My recommendation would be to get rid of the flex outside your tent from the fan to the bottom of your tent, and replace it with hard pipe (metal). I will increase your air flow and eliminate your odor problem. Another thing that helps seal ducts in and out of the tent is to use a short piece of metal pipe where it passes through the tent wall. It's much easier to seal against the flat pipe and it will not collapse from the pressure. And if you ducting need to make sharp corner as soon as it enters the tent, put a hard elbow in.

Hey Rusty, when I saw the chicken wire, my 1st thought was "He's gonna hate that wire".
I tried it "Once"

As these plants get fatter and fatter, it's getting harder to take them out and disturb them. Had to come up with a quick invention for now, I call this the Point N' Pour:

This little beauty is 1.25M and you just point and pour into the funnel to feed those thirsty 2 liters. Going to test it out tonight, but thought I would bring my WOH crew in for the beta test.

Hey best thread yet lots of good info. I'm rebuilding a flower room and want to change my set up. Right now I have 12k on a flipbox alternating 6 on 6 off every hr. The hoods vented on their on line from another room. I have a 10" fresh air intake with a cone filter and a 12" vortex 2052cfm exhausting thru a carbon filter. What I want to do is upgrade my ventilation and run glassless non-vented hoods for more light out put. So this is what I'm thinking about put my 12" 2050cfm on my fresh air intake and put a 16" vortex v-series 4515cfm on the exhaust to run every 3min and add a 24000 btu mini split to help as back up if things get hot. Any thoughts on what may go wrong and what I should or shouldn't do or get.
Holy shit thats alot of CFM, but alot of lights too...

Good luck man, looking forward to following your grow again. What's with the elastic cords wrapped around the top? If it was forcing the chicken wire downward it would be like a mini stadium SCROG.

Dude, nice!!

I love that idea..it's a fucking pain to water plants in the back.
I pull the each rubbermaid tray (holds 15 plants, 28"X18") out to water the back. What do you use to pour into your 2l? I have a couple 1cup measuring cups
