CO2 Extracts?

Exactly, is that the $12k one that you can only run 1/2 lb of material at once? The large scale production ones are easily 100k. There is a thread on icmag about a crew that invested $1mil into developing one.
I'm not sure bro. My guess is that it may be the 100k model

This article states that supercritical CO2 units start at 50k.

TM13, did you find out anything further? Just curious.
I'm still working on it brother, I had some funding issues this week :(

I did get in contact with Special FX Labs during this week though. My initial question was do they do extraction for growers and the answer was not at this time, as they are only working with dispensaries. Furthermore, I was told "at present the products we offer are tincture, capsules and chocolate. Product lines will be expanding early next year as well as a website overhaul."

With any luck my contact over at Special FX Labs will provide me some product photos I can share here this week.

That would be very interesting. Thanks for any further info. Is the premise that CO2 is a very specific solvent, yet safe? As I recall you normally need very polar solvents like Pet Ether or Chloroform to fully extract Cannabinoids while leaving everything else like wax behind.

I smoked some dabs at the GC3 last week that was CO2. very tasty and clean burning.Basicly the formed a glass tube on the end of a liquid CO2 tank or system and just let the cold do the work on the trichs

TM13; I appreciate you reaching out to us and starting this thread. As well as including us in the discussion.

After reading the last post about one of my salespeople I felt a response was warranted. I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with him.

A little about us here at Special Fx Labs and the method of SCFE (supercritical fluid extraction).

The SCFE instrument and process has been around for years but not really in the Cannabis field. Special Fx Labs is run by lab professionals who have thousands of hours of experience working with this instrument in processing a multitude of goods. Since the bill was voted on in 2008 and passed in MI; we began focusing on the Cannabis plant and how it could be used medicinally to help people in need. Through years of research, testing and clinical trials we have just begun to introduce our products into the market. We are focused on Wellness not Intoxication. This is one of the reasons why we use SCFE which leaves behind no trace elements of solvent; it is non-toxic and non-flammable. Just like the air you breathe.

At present we currently offer our product in three forms; chocolate, tincture and capsule. Each of these products are produced in the lab and the chocolate in a commercial kitchen. Every time you experience one of our products you will find they are consistent, clear, and effective.

We are working with Iron Labs as our independent 3rd party testing company.

As TM13 stated earlier; we are in the process of updating our website and preparing to expand our product lineup early next year. Be on the lookout for the changes.

As many people have stated it is very expensive to get started; not to mention the learning curve to perfect each of the processes in getting to the proper finished product. The instrument and its accessories take up quite a bit of room and some power to boot.

I look forward to further discussion and questions regarding the process and our products.

RD MI - I do like that you are a Phish fan; but don't like the unfounded negative comments about my company and salesperson.

The very real premise is that other methods of producing oil are illegal in California, hence the apparent movement towards co2 extraction. I say "apparent" because much of what is labeled as co2 extracted, is in fact plain old bho relabeled for expediency.

The real problem with co2 extractions is that they are extremely finicky, depending on precise temperature and pressure protocols to extract "just" what you want. It seems like it is going to be very difficult to utilize this method to produce complex extractions that include all the necessary and vital sub-components of our medicine. Butane is the better solvent if you also value aroma, flavor, and spice with all their concomitant physical and psychological effects.

Reading the lab's post here indicates that they have accepted this conundrum and are concentrating (lol) on extracting the basic cannabinoids and nothing more at this point. An admirable start-up with a valuable certifiable and consistent commercial product.

Give me a tour of your facility and I will eat my words, until then I stand by them. If those are the only extracts you offer, why is Parrish selling shit to dispensaries as oil to vaporize or smoke? And why does your brochure talk shit about butane oil sparking, when your shit sparks and crackles. I've seen it myself and have a friend that works at a dispensary that stocked it until they called Parrish out and he couldn't explain himself.

Show me something that looks like supercritical co2 extract and ill believe you. Everything I have seen from you is oily brown garbage.

Hey special FX, any reason you couldn't clean the taste of coffee from your machine before you started using it for cannabis extracts only? Special FX oil sparks and tastes like coffee and raisins.

Special fx labs. I would love to hear about you giving Rare D MI a tour of your facility. I trust his judgement, and if he has
had a bad product in the past, then you should be quick to show him/all of us, that your Extracts are now top notch.
