Your seedlings will need just some CFLs. I keep a 24w CFL or T5 tubes a few inches above the soil and let the seedling grow with floro light for a few weeks before throwing them under HID. That HID @ 300w will still be too much, unless you have it quite some distance away, which will cause undesirable stretch.[/QUOTE]

Thanks Praetorian, I'll get some and set it up.

ineverveg, they are a deep purple with frost. After two weeks of flower, they were already pushing out a dark purple inner flower than the others. From there, its just grown more purple and green. I tried to get multiple bud shots to see if there was any difference. I have a mom ready for the next round which will be a sea of purple. I have TGA's qrazy train that I just topped and am cloning the tops to sex.

So when i took some male berry bomb pollen to make S2s i applied some to my blue dream thinking Blueberry x silver haze would cross very well with blueberry x big bomb. Calling it berry dream. Wish me luck in the pheno hunt a month or two down the road! Top bud of the blue dream i knocked up all sensi up here. securedownload-92.jpgsecuredownload-280.jpg think down the road i might try to isolate the blue dream pheno from crosses and backcross with the berry bomb some more to try to get that big bomb trait with flavor of dream.

I personally don't use any additives yet. Just not got round to it.
Canna Rhizotonic, from day one...as a matter of fact it's like 16ml/gal from the start winding down in dosage to 4ml/g during flower. It has a huge following here on RIU too. Talk about roots. I use clear solo cups inside an opaque one so I can check root development of young sprouts.

I might have to give that shit a try.
So you use it right off the bat on clone cuts & seedlings?

Ive personally been using roots excelurator. I havent run an entire grow with it, but it's certainly helped with root growth on clones and seedlings. The stuff is bloody expensive though. $60 for a pint.

Previous seed run 1 of 5 female.
Current run 4 of 6 female. So I've been starring at these things closely (I thought) to see those first signs of sex. So tell me how I missed a mutant in the group. I was trimming the bottom of the best looking male, trying to decide if I should keep for pollen (this is a hassle). I decided to trash it with the other male, at this point I looked at it differently. It has 3 friggin' branches per node, all nodes from the bottom to top, How could I miss something like this??? I think I need to make lights on time earlier, maybe 3 or 4 beers earlier.

Well now that I know I have a mutant in the house, I will lollipop this dude and finish him in the closet. I think this pollen would be worth saving.

From my reading I don't believe the triploid trait will carry through with breeding. It's too rare. I'd also seen someone who had a triploid that they cloned and the clones eventually started growing regular two sets. But hey who knows, I'm not here to thwart your fun, go for it!

Yes, very safe on the young ones...some here are soaking their seeds in Rhizotonic. For the plants I'm growing now, I used Canna "Start" for the first time in conjunction with Rhizotonic. With "Start" there's no guess work on when to mix 1/8th or 1/4th strength nutes for new sprouts/clones. It's a one part nutrient system with micro-nutrients and you use it full strength the day they pop above the medium, and of course for clones until mature enough to go full strength with normal nutes. I wish this was around when I was a newbie. I was leery but had backup sprouts to play with so I douched them with full strength. No worries!

Wattsaver, I thought the same thing myself ...but they only come on 1-1.5hrs after I get home...so now it's light beer before light's on, hefeweizen's after lights on.
No seriously.... I've been staring at a FIM job I did on both these girls when they were 3" tall. Instead of 4 new growth's out of the FIM area I got only 3. I did slice a bit more than 80% of the new shoots. Just thought it funny we were both looking wondering what was wrong.

Yea I really wouldn't expect to carry tripod gene. Just thinking that there may be other valuable trait/pheno genes more readily available in the mutant. Then again it could be like adding dirt to pancakes (not nearly as good as the original). I'll never know unless I try.

Ya know what FIM stand for I'm sure.
Fu_k I Missed.
I mangled many plants then quit trying, but never got 3. Hell I only got 4 once.

Carbon filters

Even with a carbon filter, I can smell the sweet perfume outside my grow room. I'm using a 170 CFM fan with a combo filter bought from HTG, however, I can still smell this even with negative pressure in my tent. I have some home-made ONA that I'm going to make and even use the misting idea you suggested Moebius. Am I the only one suffering with this issue? I'm getting paranoid that I'm going to get use to this smell and that it will linger on things that leave my house. Please help!

Seal any hoods with tape.

Smells can get in through the hood after the CF.

Here's how I'm setup right now. I'm pulling air from inside a wall in my basement. That air travels through the air hood to which it's pulled over the light and out the fan on the either side. From there, to muffle the sound, I am using a speed controller to turn down the fan speed and then use another duct as an intake into my tent so the cold air is used to cool not only the 400 watt, but also inside the tent. There is a definite SUCK going on because the tent pulls in. I just have no idea how the smell is escaping. All the tent holes are zip lined shut. I'm at 5 weeks flowering and the smell intensifies by the day (as we all know :] )

Air can get pulled in through the tiny gaps in the hood glass.

This air has not been treated by the CF and thus when expelled has full smell.

Go through the whole vent system and look for any gaps. Seal ANY gaps with tape, especially around the hood glass.
