Ever think about going off the grid?

I have begun to seriously look into those tiny houses that have been in the news lately, the ones on wheels. I'd love to explore parts of the country taking my pad with me, especially some of the remote parts of the west / southwest, and the Rockies. I actually prefer being alone, so that's not a problem for me, it's incentive.

well when you mentioned the spring the first time i figured you were gonna use it for water. what else would you use it for? :p and watch out you dont get your hopes up too much with your springs cause they DO stop running from time to time. dont want to bet everything on that spring being your water source cause if it stops or slows down too much you might be forced to find another way to water. i have a water cistern here that catches rain water off the gutters and goes into a huge underground water storing tank that gets filtered through special cement blocks then pumped into the house or where ever.

was looking at green houses the other day. saw lowes has a 6x8 for 200 bucks and it looks pretty sturdy. might pick one up just to check it out.

ya man many people just letting houses go these days. but hey you might be able to take advantage of people doing just that and get some good property for a great price. check with the local banks in the area your looking at and see what they got for that kind of stuff.
Yeah man get a green house going and throw a tomatto plant in a 5 gal in there! You can get year round fruit as long as it doesn't freeze on ya! You can also pull the plant in the house when it's gonna freeze. I know what you're talking about with the properties, it sucks for some but hell if we can take advantage too bad! Also Banks don't like being in the land owning business! So I know they have auctions and also like you said they have properties they need to unload so they are willing to work with you on a price! There isn't alot of people in this economy buying 100 acre spots.

Your pic's are killing me man! Was that weed on your land or surrounding? If it isn't on yours id stay clear of it! I know out there you can get burried and nobody will find your ass. Do you have many neighbors up in there or are you surrounded by hunting grounds and "vacation" spots? Yeah dream spot would be river or year round stream, and a few springs, and also put some wells in! I am not going to wait for the spring or other water supply to fail before I have a second one drilled and ready.

What's up for X-mas? Can ya still get a turkey this year? The wife is just going to order a prime rib off QVC! LOL roughing it this year! ;)

well if i had a greenhouse i would run power over to it and put a heater in it for when it got real real cold.
that weed was out in the woods off anyones property. in a state owned section. i didnt mess with it, just came across it and took a picture. lol ya people DO come up missing out here and no one really puts a effort in to find anyone either. not many people living back here. the people that do live in the area either come in on the weekends or mind to themselfs. so its always quiet here. hell yesterday i built a dirt jump for my 4 wheeler right in the middle of the road. no one ever drives down it so im using it for myself now lol :p

i can hunt with a shotgun till tomorrow for turkey and bow hunt till jan. 21st. might be turkey on the plate for x mas lol. forgot to mention all the big wild cats we have here. all kinds of mountain lions and shit. even a few reports of a black panther out here!

I leave home to get the fuck out, not to bring another building with me to stay in.

Bivy sack is all I need, Ive woke up sweating from nice warm nights sleep in my bag and opened my zipper only to find I was covered in 4-6 inches of snow.

Minimalist is where it's at, but thats just me.
