everything i have in the cab right now is in just a perlite/vermiculite hempy mix
Ooops my bad. But they do have that look. It's amazing how little nutes one needs with LEDs it seems. And +1 to PSU's advice.

.... but for now i wanna see the power of these panels alone and see what Vipar has to offer(so far im freaking loving it)bongsmilie
I tell ya I'm pretty happy so far with my A300. I wasn't planning on getting one but I got an offer I couldn't refuse. At first I didn't think much of it besides that it's built and weighs like a tank, but the plants are really looking good under it. I run 10/14 now and I got a Blue Cheese plant that wasn't looking very happy, so I figured it wasn't happy with the time. I've been running the Vipar since Thanksgiving and that plant is just getting lusher by the day in the last week since it's been under the Vipar. Two Super Lemon Hazes I just put into flowering are loving it and I've got 2 more SLH's at week 5 of flowering and their growth rate has shot right up so I'm looking forward to week 10 on these. Smell is up in the tent too, which I like. I'd really want to do some modding to it, but I don't want to fuck with the warranty or the resale value. But if these next few plants work out, it's staying and then it's bye-bye warranty :)! Happy Growing Alex.

I'm so glad you like it,and better yet, so do your plants! What kind of mods did you have in mind?

^^^Oh the usual. Remove the glass, cut out the fan guards and replace with wire ones. Replace the fans with quieter/more efficient ones. There's a small gap between the case and the panel the diodes are mounted on that I would cover with aluminum tape to prevent any light leaks and increase reflectivity. I'd cover the outside of the case with aluminum tape just like I do my Blackstars to increase reflectivity. And I would probably remove the heat-sinks and redo the thermal grease. Usually Chinese manufacturers just glob that stuff on like frosting so I'd remove their grease and use a diamond based thermal grease. The panel increased my tent temp by about 2° F so some of these mods will probably lower the temp a bit more. And lastly I would line all the edges with rubber so when I hit my head into it again it won't hurt like fuck all. LOL.

But for now it's fine and I'll just keep running it as is.

Dang man that sounds badass! Keep me updated I'd love to see how it turns out. +1 for the rubber especially hahahaahhaahaa

Some close ups of my La con. I'm currently searching for a nice macro lens too so we can get even closer!

The other 2 are still looking pretty gnarly with the leaves but the buds are beautiful nonetheless

Im pretty sure im failing big time at sexing these plants as most should be mature by now. when i get my macro ill take some closeups and see what you guys think. right now every thing just has a tiny ass little dot which looked pretty similar to the females before they popped the little white hair. My favorite Nl however is throwing out a lot of nice clusters of male flowers. i think i would like to cross it with my la con just for the hell of it. it will be a while though before i setup a nice little breeding room and take clones from it though.
PC053715-Optimized.jpgPC053714-Optimized.jpg

The Fg 13 is starting to get a little more dense day by day! im super glad i tied it down when i did.
PC053704-Optimized.jpgPC053703-Optimized.jpg

So all of my la con clones rooted except one because i had to tug on it about a week ago to see if it started to root and it popped out. i didnt want to wait and tossed it.

One of the og18xskunks and also one of the sleestackxskunks rooted as well. all the clones went into a party cup of roots organic and will be transplanted in 13 days to 1 gallon pots of supersoil which will be done cooking at that time, except one clone that went into a hempy.

also not sure how they got there, but i found aphids on my clones. i sprayed them with mighty wash and checked everywhere else in the veg/flower cab but couldnt find any.

Lovin the way the LA Con is comin out. Does it have that Juicy Fruit smell? The time I smoked it, it tasted like someone chopped up Juicy Fruit gum and put it in the weed :).

Effin aphid bastards, kill em all Alex! Kill em' all :cuss:!

Oh and according to Vipar removing your glass doesn't automatically void your warranty :bigjoint:. Cool company, really digging their customer service. And the panel ain't too bad either :). I'm really starting to like it. My nodes on the SLH I threw in 2 weeks ago are just ridiculously close for this plant at this point.. I usually don't believe the height or area panel makers suggest, but this tank might just do 3x4 area no problem. I think I'm gonna raise it up tomorrow and see what transpires.

I'm not sure if its the dam maxibloom or what but I can't detect a dam thing when I shove my nose next to it. Even more annoyed about it because I never smoked this strain so I'm not sure what to be looking for. Its getting frosty as hell though. I've also been adding some heavy 16 fire as a bloom booster, I got so many samples of nutrients I think I'm set for a year. Funny though now that I'm switching to supersoil. ( I think ill just split down the middle and run Super soil side by side against the various boosters with maxibloom)

I hope those bastards had their faces melted off. Nothing is gonna mess with my plants !(except me burning the shit out of them)

Go for it! I have mine hanging like 34 inches or something like that from the floor. I'll be filling up the cabinet more so we will see how well the plants on the edges do I have no doubts though because my space is 44"x24" only and I am seriously becoming more blind each time I open that cabinet up.

Hey Alex what's going on? Where's our update? The people are clamoring for more! :cuss:

So I took the glass off my Vipar last night. Had to be done and I couldn't be happier. The glass itself was very thin, and that surprised me, but because the way the Vipar's housing is built, the area housing the lights was mostly sealed off and was creating quite a bit of heat. Let's put it this way; my temps at the tops of the plants went from 86-88F, with all 4 panels on mind you, to 80-82F. Room temp went from 82-84F to 79-81F, so temp wise it was totally worth the pain in the ass of modding it. Plus it's even brighter now. I can see the dim glow of the 730s which I couldn't before and the whole thing is just visibly brighter. I've wrapped it in foil tape and will be sealing the gap between the case and the panel later. I did it last night but pulled it off just because something told me to and I don't want to fuck this panel up, at least not yet! I'm picking up some white electrical tape later so I can better isolate the panel's wiring. Then I'm going to put a fresh cover of foil tape over that. I hate that area between the lights and the case. It's like a light trap. My 5x60 is like that.

Fans may be next. The 120mm stock fans aren't too bad I found out. Fan-cooling.com makes them and MassCool sells them as model FD12025, though there may be some differences. Very efficient for their cooling capabilities actually, so they may stay but I'm gonna have to hack out those fan covers and get 120mm rubber gaskets and wire fan covers. That's where any fan noise I do hear is probably generating from and should lower my temps even more. I wouldn't mind getting some ultra quiet vortex fans though. I found one type that even come with cages and would fit perfectly but uses 3 watts, while the stock use less then 1 watt, (I think). I need to check out the fan drivers next time I'm playing with it to see if I can just upgrade the fans, and not have to upgrade the driver too. Adding a PWM fan controller is not too far fetched either if the driver is putting out enough watts. There's a company that makes one with digital fan controls and 5 digital thermometers , all with a digital display that could be fit in a few places. That would rock :blsmoke:

Looks like my warranty is going to the wayside . And just for the record build quality was very good, though I did find 2 screws holding on the heat-sinks misaligned, but that was an easy fix. Wiring was perfect and it broke my heart to cut the ties grouping them together. I also really appreciated how Vipar has the panel isolated from the case and screws. It's simple really, just gaskets and plastic washers, but still a nice touch. And cutting out the silicone holding the glass on sucked because of the perfect sealing job ;).

Take Care and Happy Growing Alex!

YEAH ALEX! Where is our update!?? :D

Hahaha....you and your modding Franjan.... :-P

you heard of these guys....http://www.quietpc.com/casefans

Looking at getting a few for my grow room....anybody else used this company?

^^^ Quiet? Why get multiple quiet fans when you can get one of these;

1ST PC CORP. PFB1212UHE-F00 120mm Case Cooling Fan

5500 RPM!!!!!
250+CFM!!!!!

Ok, you're gonna have to turn up the music a bit if you want stealth with this one :). LOL. In all seriousness have you ever heard of Enermax case fans? Very quiet, very good for the price.

You guys and your modding. Dope. If you remember Rasser. He did a thread where he modded his led . Upgraded fans and installed a digital thermostat to control the fans. It had a digital screen on the top of the light.

That guy disappeared. His threads might still be around.

^^^Yeah, Rasser's threads I would only read in the morning when I was sober :). Miss him around here.

Yeah he knowz his guff.....i think the best thing was that he just 'did it' and then reported what he found out rather then theorizing and wondering and doing nothing....refreshing approach. :)

^^^ There you go, but I was thinking of getting something a little more complex this go round.

I would love to get temp measurements from around the inside of the panel and the immediate grow area around it, plus fan control. There's a company that makes an external controller that's a possibility too. Lots of choices. Arduino controlled would be even better. That might be a better path for me.
