What to do about rippers

This year I heard alot of people were going to rip my first grow, thankfully my father and I pulled our plants before they could.

This is very depressing and I would like to know if anyone can share there tricks.
I plan on spending 200$ just on plants that grow like vines to help cover my grow, and lights but I'm still up at night worring. I live in Cali and have my card so I'm not breaking any laws by growing but I'm still scared.

dig random holes 18 inch round 2 feet deep. cover with land scape cloth. steak down with sticks or place rocks on corners dont hide them to well that you cant see them. but most rippers come in at night and are in a hurry. and if and when they step in one and snap a knee or throw out there back youll know. drive way alarms are cheap 20 bucks they sense motion and send a alarm to a door bell in yur home. dogs are great but some people just kill them. i hate to put one in harmes way. there cameras you can get with iphone apps. you can get custom netting for vines to grow up to hide site. the best is not to tell anyone. game cameras. place them up in a tree and angle them down. and us a ladder so they will have to also. i had one person step in a hole this yr. found out who it was sitting at the local bar when he cam in on crutches and was telling everyone he steped in a hole. he didnt get anything but did cut a bag or two he had to leave it.

Yea I like the hole theory and best thing to do is not tell or show anyone your plants. I'm not sure why but people get greedy and make stupid choices. I did outdoor this year just a few plants told no one and they were fine. I guess location makes a big difference too.

well, rule number one of growing marijuana, is tell no one, trust no one. so nobody should know the location of your grow. I'm assuming your growing on your property, your backyard or something? Growing vines in the forest doesn't make much sense as opposed to backyard. If your aware that other people know of your location of your grow, its most likely not a good idea to be growing there again, they will most likely end up getting stolen and if not you will stress yourself all next growing season because of that. I have heard of people camouflaging their marijuana plants in the yards with fake clip on flowers. Any bright flower would do, a bunch of bright red rose like flowers would completely disguise a marijuana plant at first glance. a lot of the time, people that get their plants stolen, are actually by people that they know, so its hard to defend agaisnt people you know, they would simply wait until you are gone out. To sum things up, If rippers know the location of your grow, dont grow there. Happy toking

sadly, the only sure thing is to park yourself out there.

i slept out there for four months this year and sat out there pretty much all day. if the wife and i ever left together, a trusted neighbor watched the grow. it was hell but i don't regret it.

this is kind of a weird solution, but next year i will be raising geese on the perimeter of the grow. geese are mean, territorial creatures. but if you hatch them, have them imprint on you, and raise them from gosling, they will be friendly to you and an asshole to everyone else, rippers included. if someone tries to get in, the geese will get loud.

also, stack solutions. i did motion sensors, ran wire around the perimeter of my property, boarded up my greenhouse like a prison, put a faux electric fence around it (with very real warning signs), and kept 24 hour vigilance.

dogs help, but a determined thief can kill or poison a dog. like the other guy said, not cool to put one in harm's way like that.

best of luck.

i could be wrong...but isn't outdoor grow a little like putting your money outside and expecting it to be there when you get back?

fake cameras might do the trick, along with some traps or razor wire just anything that would scare you. signs near your plants too. TRESSPASSERS WILL BE SHOT! SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN!

There is only one way of dealing with this. First your legal so if you fell comfortable talk to your local beat cop and ask him to keep an eye out for vehicles or persons not from the area. Then maintain twenty four hour survailence on the grow. Live on it. No one will try to rip you off if they know your sitting right there and can call the cops if they try to get violent.

check out guerrilla growing, its basically about growing deep in the woods, off your property, Rippers are lazy beings, they will not hike through dense forest if they dont have to.

Do you expect your car to be in your driveway when you wake up?......it you are on a small lot..less than an acre...they will be easy to fond...find a better spot if that many people know what is going on and openly talking bout grabbing. Them.

You heard people were planning to rip you? How did they even know you were growing? DAmn, you can expect to get ripped if anyone knows about it.

If you are growing on public land then the weed belongs to the public. If you are growing on private land (yours) then you have the right to protect it. Get one of the cellular security cameras. It will send you a picture anytime somethign moves.

The way you idiots in california keep banning guns you will wind up having to defend your grow with a pointed stick.

I live in a house near the city so growing out in the forest is really hard for me although its not that long of a drive. I grow in my backyard because I cant afford to do an indoor, and in California if someone gets hurt on my property even if they are stealing my plants they could sue me. Its hard man, my window over looks the plants and vines are probably the best thing I can do, well blackberrys which already are growing in my garden. Im not worried sick but its discouraging you know? I dont live in the best area and Im really just trying to save up so I can buy some land and grow without the risk of being near the city.

that's the way i looked at it.

i imagined my plants were awkwardly shaped piles of dollar bills. i didn't want even a single dollar to go missing.

Wow I had no idea they did that. I'll have to look into that if things change and we can do it freely here.
Luckily there's enough forest area here to where if someone stumbles on your grow then chances are it was by accident. Hunters etc.
I'm glad you didn't get ripped though OP. Google Earth is probably your best friend if you're going to scout areas. Also once again never tell a soul.
I honestly don't get the mindset of 'friends' ripping. It's like a whole different level of greed or something that magically takes over them. I've seen too many stories just through the end of this season on RIU and I haven't been here that long. Even if someone doesn't do it themselves and lets say tells there shady cousin or whatnot about your location. Shady cousin sneaks out and rips it then the friend is partially responsible via proxy.

i got ripped this summer by someone i though i could trust.....everyone is right trust no one and tell no one. i realize growing inside is a bit of a investment but its alot safer most rippers wont do a B&E to get plants but when they are right outside all they have to do is come with a pair of shears, snip, snip, snip....scoot down the road to thier car and go. in the long run investing in a indoor setup ends up paying off and if your just growing for personal then its fairly cheap. 600 bucks you can have a decent 1000w setup, beans, nutes to get you started and dirt.
