World Of Hempy

I like how you have all your nutes and bottles tidy there. Looks like you a specific 'feeding station' set up there. I need to do that. also, im taking your idea of storing my harsh chemicals like pH-up in those miniature dark pipette bottles, thats perfect!!!.

I'm a new grower and love to play around and find the best way for me to do things. I'm not a soil fan so I'm looking for Hempy or DWC to by my prefered method.

Anyone ever do a DWC vs. Hempy to compair growth/yeild?

Sorry for the extreme ADD post guys
Very nice post mcpotts. I believe every grower should deal with a reservoir at least once. Some folks just love all the maintenance it takes to make it work at it's best. Me I'm a follower of the K.I.S.S. theory, hence I grow hempy.

I like the little eye dropper bottles. They really make it easier and cleaner, in the nute prep area. I've found that a full squeeze pull in the bottle gives me a rough ml (.9 to 1.1) per shot.

Since my nutes are in the bucket already my water prep is

2 squirts silica (just started)
1 squirt ph down (puts me at 6.5)
1 squirt cal-mag (perlite) (6 squirts / coco)
8 drops Floralicious +

^Sweet work youve done there Johnny. The idea of using a water level reader is inspirational. Its very clever.

  1. Wheres the purple light from? T5 coral?
  2. Have you experienced any clogging of the nozzles in your aero cloner?

edit:
Im kinda WOW'ed by the concept. Not only would it do away with the drainage, it would allow for control of the res size, great for experimenting with different substrates etc etc.
Thanks, while making the DWC buckets I thought it would work great for hempy. I figured I can try it out and if it works I could make similar adaptions to all my hempy buckets.

The purple light is from my LED panels. I currently veg with LED and run one lane of flowering with LED. They are incredible for veg and produce the frostiness bud I've seen. My only issue is at this point a smaller yeild compared to HID. Not that I've had great yields with soil. I've also started using a light mover for my HID after reading the weed science thread and so far things look good.

i did have some clogged nozzles in my cloner a while back. It's a smaller 24 unit cloner with only 6 nozzles so I just replaced them at a hydro shop. It was cheap and easy so I will probably replace every 6-12 month or when I notice a lack of spray.

i started a 2 liter collection so I can try SOG and really hope for Hempy success. I like simple but need better yields than I have got with soil.

I really need to find a single method and master it, based on what I've read I'm thinking hempy could give me everything I need. I'll keep you all posted and I'm sure will have lots of questions.

anyone ever use osmocote plus?

Hey Johnny. Nice set up. I've run dwc and jumpy in the same tent before and actually cropped.heavier in jumpy. Which goes against everything I was told. However veg growth is much faster in Dwc

I noticed a much faster veg in DWC too. I'm thinking I might start my from seed moms in dwc to veg them to clone faster.

I haven't, but I've talked with people that have and said they saw better results with osmocote plus than they did with the Lucas formula in a hempy. I have yet to try this out. Think my next experiment will be vegging moms in DWC vs hempy osmocote

Edit:

Currently using the 2 part GH series Lucas formula. I'm also adding this

http://www.generalhydroponics.com/blog/2009/05/06/what-does-it-do-floralicious-plus/

First time trying it in any of my hempys, but I'm noticing a huge difference in flowering a a result.

realized i needed to supplement co2 thanks to moebius. buying the cap gen1 liquid propane generator next week to plump these babies up. will the co2 from the generators make a big difference?

Just had a very quick look at the model ..... I'm not an expert and i've never used one but ..... (2 pennys anyway)

How do you regulate how much CO2 is released? Is it manual or automatic ? Does it detect the PPM of CO2 in the grow room? Will burning propane in a sealed room increase the heat too much?

I'm sure you've considered these factors but if not I wouldn't want to steer you down a wrong path because its not easy to set up.

Edit: JMO
The atmosphere as it is has plenty of CO2 in it for most indoor gardeners. In a 'sealed' room its essential but using an active intake of clean Air and exhausting used Air its not needed. ... I'm guessing you don't want to cut any holes in walls or doors. etc so that why youre in a sealed room.?

I wouldn't waste money on a co2 burner until I had a room dialed in. They do make a difference. Your plants look great smooth. Start cloning!

Smooth,

Do you have any of these? They're essential.

i have a sealed room for legal reasons. the room 1 is in the front of the house so the window is pointing towards the front. gf wont let me cut holes into ceiling. yes i have a osc. fan but its a short one. should i get a taller one? mine is at the level with the light i noticed if too much fan air is on them that they tend to shrivel up. im looking for a controller now for the co2.

hello WOH,i would just like to get some opinions on flowering height for 2ltr hempys SOG. What height do you flip your clones versus yield ?
i want to see what a 2 week veg does to the yield in a hempy as i am thinking about adding a 2 week veg tray to my system.

as you can see the seeds i lolly popped could have been much closer together, i think maybe 36 would fit depending on how much the cola's swell, had i done some research i would have a bigger crop .

i'm done with the expense of seeds and have some good moms now, i have very little exp with putting clones straight into flower, i would grow a clone for at least 4 weeks back in the day,the most i can practically give them is 2 weeks but what kind of plant numbers will i get in a 1m tray? how do you guys roll? is it worth having a 2 week veg?

@ Smoothness - Yeah man get a taller osc. fan. about 12". ... A smaller one just wont cut it in your space. .... Ventilation / 'Air movement'/ Air Quality is what you'll have to figure out. ....Its sometimes difficult as you know, but the most important thing for the indoor gardener. You'll get there. I agree with others, ditch the burner idea.

@ ineverveg. IMO. Its impossible to offer you any meaningful advice as to how many plants can fit in a 1cubed area. ... You can think of them a bit like Lizards. They usually all start out small but some grow into Alligators and some grow into Geckos. ... To complicate further, there is much pheno variation in the same strains.

I grew some Geckos (Violator Kush) and 1 could get maybe 30 in a 1x1x1m.
Ive just finished growing an Alligator (Lemon Skunk) and its maybe 1 or 2 in the same size area.

SOG can take a little trial and error to learn the particulars of a given strain and how it grows in your setup. Your defo right in doing away with seeds. They suck. lol.

ineverveg, since you have a 600 watter (So fucking jealous my friend), you can easily veg them to 8-10". Provided they triple in size during the stretch, you'd still be within the light distance.

My goal was to keep them within the 21" (with stretch) range so I can get the penetration of the 400 watt down to the lower canopy with some defoliation. My buds are packing on nice and I'm at 3.5 weeks. This has been a fun experiment and I can't wait to taste these ladies.

thanks. i have no co2 since its a sealed room. i was thinking bout dry ice?
As far as I know there is know way to control the rate at which it sublimates. (i.e No regulator)

Keep the dry ice for making Kief. .. If CO2 is a must for you, I would only advise using it in the compressed gas form.

in a 2x2 constant misting + standing water would be my choices.
This is why I was looking for a smaller more portable mister. While I don't mind dropping into the box with an occasional mist, I have to work too much and I'm not always home to pamper them as needed :(
