The difference is that the dems are honest with their intentions and don't base their platform on a lie. They don't believe in small government and admit it.

When will Democrats learn their whole platform is a lie? Will it happen before the whole house of cards collapses? Or will the democracy keep voting itself cookies until no one can bake them because all the ingredients are gone?

And the crowning irony is that since early '81, the Democrats have been for smaller government than the former party of small government. It's somewhat sad, really ... and a bit creepy when combined with their rather Biblical vision of American values. cn

The Republican party was founded by anti-slavery activists in 1830 and was the single biggest political driving force in ending American slavery.

First Republican US President. . .Abraham Lincoln.

Does ending slavery count as "promoting the cause of liberty"?

Not incidentally, for over fifty years, the biggest proponents of Jim Crow laws and racial segregation in the American South was the Democrat party.

This history is so politically damaging to the party that the Dem party has deliberately scrubbed all history of it from its records:

You need to attend a Democrat rally promoting wealth distrobution, Robin Hood style. That's real freedom right there. You get your booty from the thugs using the Barnum theory of consumerism.
