An Atwater tape dug up by James Carter IV (grandson of Jimmy Carter) surfaced recently showing the evolution of the Southern Strategy and the implementation of code language.

Please forgive the racial slurs, I am merely quoting.

"You start out in 1954 by saying, 'nigger, nigger, nigger.' By 1968 you can't say 'nigger' - That hurts you. Backfires, so you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights, and all that stuff... If it is getting the abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me - - because obviously sitting around saying, 'We want to cut taxes, we want to cut this, and we want,' is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a Hell of a lot more abstract than 'nigger, nigger.'"

He was responsible for the Welfare Queen campaign and the Willy Horton ad. In 2012 it was once again resurrected by Newt's Food Stamp President slur and Santorum's blah people and crowned in glory with Romney's, 47% bullshit.

Way to go, GOP!

I have this mental image of deep southern RIU lurkers scratching their heads and saying, "I don't get it."

I also picture them shirtless in a pair of overalls and rippling muscles. We all have our illusions. :p
