California legislators are like the most impulsive and immature children in the world. They find a quarter on the ground and then project that they will find a quarter on the ground every half an hour for the next 10 years. Therefore, they smash the piggy bank and each person takes a 50 out of their mom's purse saying that the budget surplus will let them pay back the debt and even make money.

We used to be the 4th... I feel like those days may return... hopefully with another dot com boom!
Anything but that. The dot-com boom was fake money ginned up by the financiers. i'd much rather build an economy based on actual production of an actual product. In our misplaced passion for a pure service economy, we've allowed Asia to eat our lunch in re manufacturing. Jmo. cn

Sorry I was being sarcastic... it's not really easy to display sarcasm over text. But I was implying that another dot com boom would lead to another bust... pretty much what you said.

Cailfornia has tourism, imports and exports. Everybody wants to come to cali. I think california has many potential avenues of creating revenue. We will see if we can become a balanced budget state once again, I think we will. I love our state I wouldn't trade it for anything, such a beautiful state.

Peace

I'm sorry. Is California still the worlds 8th largest economy?
It is like at the beginning of class when a student has an A and then the grade keeps sliding and he keeps lying to himself. The entire state thinks it is a country above decline and failure.

"Hey, I used to have an A. I can have an A again. I can just get a surplus of points on my next 29 assignments and make up the last 2 months of mediocrity, I know it. Hey, I might not have an A anymore, but I'm not the worst in the class! Cs still get degrees! C minus, that gets a degree, too, right? Well, I have a D now but if I just Ace every assignment I'll have a B. I'll tell everybody I used to have an A and account myself as having a surplus grade of a B in the future, even though I have a D now."

This report forgot to figure in the job losses now happening due to Obama being reelected, the huge push of illegals that will be allowed to stay, the cost of the Dream Act which the state and feds will pay for with tax money, the drop in exports from the state, and the overall drop in demand for California farm goods such as foods. Then toss in the massive debt that will come from Obamacare and the rise in prison costs due to imprisonment of those who do not pay since you get 2 warnings before your jailed..One fine then a second fine then its classified as tax evasion and handled by the irs with a minimal 5 years sentence..Cali has no chance to even hope to break even let alone a surplus..This has to be a crack smoker with a hell of an imagination lol

After years of double-digit deficits, the state will face just a $1.9 billion budget gap next year, according to the Legislative Analyst's Office.

Double digit deficits. LOL guess California deficit NEVER went further than $99 and $1.9 Billion is only a single digit. LOL these guys must know the same math that Dooky does.

California has less than 40 million people and nearly 40 percent of the nation's welfare bums with at least a double digit unemployment rate. I'm getting sick of paying for the North Mexico Dream.
