How to get a Twister Trimmer!

Looking for ways to beg / build / obtain either a twister trimmer or something exactly like it: http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server2200/2e970/products/77/images/182/DSC06123__82875.1346468660.1280.1280.jpg

Problem is, they don't do rent-to-own. $15,000 is a lot of money, even for a guy needing a top-of-the-line bud trimmer.

Only idea I can think of is to make / borrow like $5,000-$7,000, then try and get a loan against a bunch of un-trimmed weed. Any ideas how to get one of these? I'm not broke, but fuck thats a lot of money.

I made a thread on building one a while back - didn't seem to get any interest though. You can buy the cage and rotary blade for a couple thousand bucks, but you'd probably need some solid metalworking skills and engine knowledge to really replicate it.

I've noticed that the more important thread I make, the less replies I get. I'm guessing that's because harder questions are harder to answer, but it kind of makes me wonder if I haven't outgrown this board.

Fuck I want that trimmer! $14,000... really? Probably costs $3,000 to make, they couldn't even sell it for 10?

when you talk of something so expensive, you talk to a small audience of this forum... if not this marijuana growing world.

No one says anything because anyone who has knowledge on it is not available imo

are you expecting there are people on here willing to auction it away or something?

so it looks like that is the price and you should purchase it and inform everyone of its uses. its your chance to be that guy.

Yeah, I can not even fathom a need for anything other than scissors.
You must be from somewhere very far from here or you are just batshit crazy.
Either way good luck with your dump truck full of trimmings, lol

Yeah, just sucks that a thread of making co2 out of yeast will get 500 replies and not one person will chime in on how to build a trimmer. I've wracked my brain to death, but I'm not a metal worker / machinist. I believe they cut that tube out of a 4-axis CNC lathe - there about 10-15k themselves and not without a learning curve.

What we need is a machinist to sit down, create the core parts, then sell them for a few grand. I've even thought about going to the local metal fab shop with some diagrams and a couple thousand bucks. Plus, if you made your own, you could make it long as shit and tweak everything about it.

Look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFZQuNrkerA

Not saying it's easy to build, but it costs as much as a 2013 Dodge Dart. Has to be a way to build one for a few grande, even if it means getting a couple of the harder-to-fabricate parts professionally made.

yeah if i had the volume to support that trimmer... i would NOT be on this website.... is he bragging?
It takes about a day to trim a pound. Even a mid-size grow can pull in around 15 pounds every 2 months.

Just because you have a trimmer that can do 30 pounds in a day, doesn't mean your going to run it at full capacity - be worth it just to save 1 week a month of tedious labor.

Btw, you can actually buy the main piece:

http://www.trimshop.com/new-twister-t2-tumbler/

As well as the reel blade. The main part just turns on a belt, so you could use about anything as your engine - variable speed rotary tool, fan, drill, ect. Really thinking about building my own - even if it was shitty and wooden, you could paint it black and throw an LED inside to light up the tube.

Yeah, you can buy those for a few hundred bucks. They really don't save any time over scissors, since your still having to manipulate each bud individually over the grate.

I saw a Twister video once and was not impressed with the quality of the trim. Very "commercial". Jmo. For that kind of money you can hire a Nicaraguan orphanage to trim a metric ton. cn

It seems that one must either have many pounds at a time or really hate their bud to put it through a machine to "trim" it. one of the bigger hydro shops in town has a pile of those trimmers, mostly the smaller ones. they've dropped their prices over and over, down to almost their cost to get rid of them. can hardly give them away around here, but I guess if you're in Cali or someting and have fields of herb to harvest it might seem like a good idea.

those things are all about commercial growing, and just in it for the money. seems like putting them through that kind of trauma would take great nugs and make them into mid's right quick.

I've not seen the quality of the trim, but unless you are looking at trimming mountains of bud, why not just get a spinpro or something I don't imagine there's that much difference in the quality of the output.

i would do the diy one

i wouldnt take plans for a trimmer to any fabricating shop lol but thats just me.
I'm playing with the idea of using a wide format printer to make a stencil of the groves in the pipe. 6" pipe has an 18" circumference. At 1/4" a groove, that's 2 grooves per inch, or 36 total. If I had a couple hundred bucks, I'd do the design in illustrator and print it out on a vinyl cutter, then just use spray paint to mark the areas that got cut away.

I made a thread on a DIY version - probably going to be dead for a couple days until my pipe comes and I can get some pictures, hoping it catches on after that.

And yeah, the trimmer is probably overkill for anything less than 3-5 pounds, unless you have joint pain or arthritis or some reason not to trim. No idea why people think it hurts the buds, THC is essentially sap, even if it gets rubbed off a little, it gets rubbed on more buds. Besides, scissors and hands gum up just as bad.
