Check out CERAMATEC they are developing a new type of battery that can hold 20K. While cost is around 2,000 right now, expect it to come down within the next couple of years. I just added 51 panels to my home at a cost of 86 thousand, a bit on the high side but there top of the line and produced here in America. A 2kw system with inverter and deep cell lead core batteries can be had for under 10K if you do some research.

Off grid to me means a complete disconnect from the digital world, not just the power company. Basically anything that sends or receives a signal. Maybe keep an old radio/cb around just incase you get curious one day during the zombie appocalypse.

Solar panels are for pretenders.

I've never been able to come up with one. 2 kW average means that, to survive a ten-day stormy period, I'd need 480 kWh recoverably stored. I can't even rig the storage for that money, let alone a solar array that yields 2 kW average, day and night, rain and shine. cn

If they don't already have radiation poisoning, I imagine it would be the same as eating some bad fish...overall not good. Otherwise pass the forearm, I'm starved :fire:

They should make cannibalism an option in the next Fallout lol

I think betteruse a the equator. even if ya got swepped over, you might not freeze before help gets back around

I like having a toilet. I would definitely need to have a septic tank and leach field. Growing up we had an outhouse for the first months at my home, an actually two seater outhouse that was attached to a 20x10 shed behind the house. If your plan on heating with wood your arms are going to be jacked! Hopefully you do this warmer climate, During our cold winters we split and stacked 50 cord of wood in the summer and fall. The first few years my father taking the trees down himself before he just started having it delivered.

Damn man the best way to live! more freedom for sure, i live ina small community, but over summer camp in the woods, i also make bows/arrows and all kinds of primitive stuff, including pipes!! and i like weed strains that release my creativity too.....
