Ok after you cut a clone, and dip it in the powder or gel, can you pop it straight into soil and water it to grow?
Or if not what do you do?
Or if not what do you do?
So you cant just cut it, dip it, and put it in some soil? They have to establish a better roots in a humidity dome first for better survival rate? However your saying it can survive by just putting it in soil? So the dome just develops a better root system this increasing likelihood of survival? You can. but your rate of survival seems to go down. I did it for about 6 months and then went back to Jiffy pucks and got a much better survival rate.
Of course you know you have to put them in a humidity dome to root.
when i first started off i would cut and put straight into promix never used any hormones and i had about 80% survival rate they took a lil longer to root but it worked as of now i do it a lil diff cut dip promix now my survival rate is about 98% i dont use a dome just mist twice a day so a dome is not needed unless you live in a really dry place well imoSo you cant just cut it, dip it, and put it in some soil? you could do 24/0 remember they dont need much light till they get roots a 23 watt cfl will do fine like 6 inches aboveI just took a clone today and put it straight into soil. Didnt use any rooting agent but its from a plant with really good genetics, i dont have a dome so im just hoping for the best. Should i put it on 24/0?
I am gonna buy the proper stuff to clone but for now i just kinda wanted to see if it would work

It won't is my bet. Root Shooters are recommended along with a humidity dome even if you make one. Instead of a $50 hydrofarm seedling mat buy one at half-price by going to PetSmart for a reptile mat. Then cut your clone, dip in powder, insert in damp Root Shooter and place under dome. Then your concern is "damping off" so watch the humidity as time goes by.I just took a clone today and put it straight into soil. you will get roots ill put up a pic later of a clone all i did was cut then right to promix no hormones just sprayed twice a day with plain tap and believe me its well rooted nowwi dont think u will get roots if u dont use hormone
All I did was take my cutting off a plant at a 45 degree angle 2 to 3 weeks into flower and then I took my razor blade and kinda skinned it at the bottom of the stem where I made my cut and placed it directly into fox farm happy frog soil about an inch down and low and behold about 3 weeks later it is healthy and rooted and I have seen my first new growth. It has grown 4 or 5 single blade leaves that look kinda funky but I guess they are supposed to. It took awhile and I had to be precise on my watering but I got a cutting to root after 3 weeks with no gel or root cloning powder. Just soil, water and lightWow so even hormone gel and powder isn't a necessity, however they increase survival rater. 80 percent is not bad....maybe I'll just cut a few clones, pop them in good soil, and mist? Sound like it will work from your advice.
You don't use any rooting hormones at all? Just water?I realize how old this is but wth. I just cut at angle and stick in rockwool and keep under dome. The key in the process is keeping the moisture in the cubes and the dome proper. Cheers, clone supplements are expensive and you don’t need them.
