photoperiod splitting

Hey there, I've got a few clones in 18/6 but since the room gets too hot if the light (400wMH) is on for more than 4/6h I split the photoperiod in 3
that is 6/2 6/2 6/2 or something like that I don't remember
it's more than a week I left it like this and the temperature is much lower (max 84°, when the light was on for 18hrs the room was something like 90°) the growth is ok too but...am I messing it all too much? I mean it's not supposed to be like that and I'm afraid they'r gonna end up half-flowering or stressing or things like that....has anybody ever tried this kind of things?

thats horrible to for your girls bc that stresses them and confuses them like shit
plants need a minimum of 13 hours of light to keep the correct photoperiod of vegging
in the natural cycle of sunlight there is only one photoperiod and a constand period of darkness

You should be fine. I've done some work with manipulating photoperiod for clones and they seem to respond well to whatver kind of light on period they have. Clones rooted under 12/12 lighting actually seemed to root faster, but they flowered as well. Didn't want that.

-It does not stress clones

-The amount of sun and dark in the sky changes by seconds every day. It's almost never the same in a year span.

I thot the idea of growin indoors was so u could control and aim for the perfect enviroment, 6/2-6/2-6/2 is def not the perfect enviroment, wer the fuck do u live wer the sun comes out for 6 hours then total darkness for two hours an then out again, and does this 3 times a day, get ur heat issues sorted some other way and let ur light do what it's supposed to ffs

real shit bro, its winter, you can prob get a 12.000 btu for a couple hundred bucks bro and 5.000 btu will do a 1000 watt light

You can play with the photoperiod in veg, but not in the flowering stage! For a flowering plant to stay in flower mode it must get it's 12 hours of darkness uninterrupted!

Actually, most strains don't require the full 12 hours of darkness in order to stay in flower mode (once they are well established). The threshold for "Staying" in flower mode is lower than "Switching" to flower mode. In other words, once your plants are switched to flower mode (12-12), and show signs that they are responding, you can "Dial-up" the light hours a little bit. Most strains can handle an extra 2 - 2 1/2 hours of light in this manner - that's about a 16-20%
increase of photosynthesis power
. Try it, it works! Just take it easy and don't get greedy by adding back too many light hours.

I'm stoned right now but I've been thinking about that a lot lately. Has anyone experimented with longer photoperiods? Like 24/24 instead of 12/12. Seems like the plant would be able to photosynthesize more in the longer light period and would have extra time to build flowering hormones in the 24 hour darkness. Anyone ever try this?

well actually they look fine right now, I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried this kinda shittin' up with the photoperiod XD
hey thank you so much to anyone saying good or bad things about that
I'll be switching on 12/12 in a few weeks since they're fully rooted and being vegging for more than a month

kwilli, about 24/24 I don't think it's gonna work since they need 12h of full darkness every 24hrs, even one day with more than 12hrs of light would revert them back to veg

fuck face thats still a photo period when the sun sets seconds and seconds earlier it jus basically is switching to 12/12 gradually having a light for 6hrs on and 2 off---6hrs on, 2 off---6hrson, 2off that is no photperiod for the plant to take in photons and not a long enough dark period for the photosynthesis and krebs cycle to make the plant to produce the essential molecules the plant needs

it might be luck, it might be just my case but...they're still alive, growing as fast as before the "photosplitting" but with no burned leaves (it was really too hot before)
for those who will wonder about this in the future, it works fine, that's a fact! :bigjoint:

Dude!
Don't be mean to your plants like that........
It would be like giving a kid a sippee cup that was empty LOL
Yes, 18 divided by 3 is 6, but don't do that, it is cruel.
Try and figure a way to pull cooler air into the room, and vent the hot air from higher up (heat rises).
