i don't find anything racist about asking someone how they self-identify.
since race is, after all, a social construct, who better o leave the construction work to?
what i object to are other people telling other people how they identify. beenthere does this in his own way by dictating that people who self identify as white with some latino/hispanic are not really white. laura ingraham and others on the right say that obama is not black, unlike herman cain, since he has some white in him. nevermind that he self identifies as black due to people him treating him that way because of his appearance, it is up to laura ingraham, the royal cunt, to dictate obama's racial identification for him.
another thing i object to, with respect to immigration, is when someone like NLXSK talks about 'i dislike this about immigration, i like that about immigration, oh, and by the way, i have no problem with hisapnics'. even further, i object to when people like rollindud refer to immigration reform like obama just did with the dream act and say 'oh, he just wants those mexicans to like him!'.
why do these people assume that all immigrants are hispanics? why do these people assume that anyone who brought their kid here illegally is mexican? have these people never visited around, and seen the people that live in this country? almost a mjority of immigrants do not come from mexico or other hispanic/latino countries. they go out of their own ways to identify their own racial approaches to the situation.
so to sum it up, no, i don't mind when the government asks me how i self identify. what i object to is someone telling me how i should self identify or how anyone else should self identify for that matter.
