Almost ready for Harvest

Its finally here! I'm on my last week (week 8) for feeding nutrients starting in 2 days! YAY!! Do I need to go the full week of feeding nutrients? Can I just start giving her water with no nutrients yet??

On Friday I'm on day 49 of my 12/12. My schedule says I should go another week of nutrients. I was thinking about pulling them early I have about 25% amber. I was wondering should I go another week to go the full 8 weeks & then go a full week of just water (no nutrients), & then harvest?

Summary:

Preharvest flushing puts the plant(s) under serious stress. The plant has to deal with nutrient deficiencies in a very important part of its cycle. Strong changes in the amount of dissolved substances in the root-zone stress the roots, possibly to the point of direct physical damage to them. Many immobile elements are no more available for further metabolic processes. We are loosing the fan leaves and damage will show likely on new growth as well.

The grower should react in an educated way to the plant needs. Excessive, deficient or unbalanced levels should be avoided regardless the nutrient source. Nutrient levels should be gradually adjusted to the lesser needs in later flowering. Stress factors should be limited as far as possible. If that is accomplished throughout the entire life cycle, there shouldn’t be any excessive nutrient compounds in the plants tissue. It doesn’t sound likely to the author that you can correct growing errors (significant lower mobile nutrient compound levels) with preharvest flushing.

Drying and curing (when done right) on the other hand have proved (In many studies) to have a major impact on taste and flavour, by breaking down chlorophylls and converting starches into sugars. Most attributes blamed on unflushed buds may be the result of unbalanced nutrition and/or overfert and unproper drying/curing."

  • Water Curing is done by cutting down your buds and removing the fan leaves. It's optional to do further trimming, but note that cured trimmings always make better hash. Place them in a bin of Reverse Osmosis water and keep below above 65F and below 75F. Use something to gently weigh them down. Once a day for 3-7 days (depending on personal preference) change out the water with clean fresh RO water. Because there is a high concentration of chlorophyll and salts in the buds and none in the water, Osmosis will naturally occur, drawing it out of the plant until the levels are equal. The water is changed out to keep the osmotic pressure at its highest: day old water will not have the same osmotic force to suck out everything. After the 3-7 days, hang and dry the buds like you normally would. Done!
    Results:
    -Less bag appeal
    -The smoothest bud you'll ever smoke
    -Bud is more potent, but only because the total weight is reduced. IE- where you may get 1.5g air curing, you'll only get 1g with water cure: a much purer product
    -Using them method allows you to pump in nutrients all the way to the end, with NO 1-2 weeks of flushing. That could increase yields significantly.

    Remember that nothing we want to smoke is water soluble. That means it will not leach out into the water. The only thing that can happen is trichomes can break off if you treat the buds roughly: be gentle.

    So, I stand firm with flushing during pre harvest if you use jar curing, but if you want more potent buds, you should feed all the way up until harvest and use the water curing method. Just my 4 cents ;    ​

this can still be achieved with a good dry and long enough jar cure. Cotton do you water cure???

well let me know how it goes when u do try. ive been interested in the method, but never had the guts to throw my precious buds into water lol. I dont really give a fuck about bag appeal as i grow for mostly precy

Why would I be jealous of you at all? I harvest dank, I smoke dank, I have for many years. You are a noob with caterpillar infested nugs. How long have you been growing? How many harvests have you had? Anyone can look at your posts and tell that you're an idiot. But here you are, hopping around the forum trying to give advice to people when you don't know what you're talking about. Your advice could ruin someones crop.
