Need a little help with smell

So i have a 5x5 tent in the basement and have a 6in inline fan + Carbon filter for smell, now i have it exhausting out the tent into the basement..I have about 20 in their and it is stinking up the basement as flowering progresses...It might be because its been a lil humid the last couple days or all of the clean air is venting out the tent into the basement and it smells up over time..Is their away i can vent it outsidefrom the basement? I am thinking about putting my exhaust tip in the ceiling of the basement sense its not finished its just insulation. Note: the filter is almost new only been through 1 grow..This is the second..Any suggestions on what i could do?

If there is a dryer in the basement you could blow it out of it's exhaust.

Could it be that the smell is leaking through the tent.??

That's my thoughts DJ. Check your tent for any leaky spots and seal up any spots where air could get out. That's more likely that it coming through the carbon filter. Otherwise do what billybob said and vent it out the laundry vent. You can get a Y piece for the ducting so you can connect both.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was going to exhaust it out the y piece where the dryer is but shit thats like 15 feet away from my tent and i dont want to have 6inch ducting running all through the basement...And for the leaks, i got 2 other vent holes that im not using and their not open very much, but will that make it leak a lot?

Depends..What kind of filter is it, how big? Filters quit working or are just ineffective if they are a junk knock off brand. You don't want your filter hanging around in humidity over 60% it will ruin them.

Your fan could also be pulling air through the filter faster then the filter can clean it.

You'll never get 100% of the smell though.

Well i dont think its humid because it just dont feel like it, its pretty cool down their..And yeah i just slowed fan down, so we'll c...But this might be another issue..i got my setup like this Carbon filter/ducting/fan/ducting/light/ducting up out the tent, so that means the fan is pushing the air the light up out the tent, So should i have the fan on the other side of the light so it will suck the hot air instead of push it?..Im thinking the hot air is mixing with the scrubbed air and fucking it up..

Actually if your hood leaks you would be better off the way you have it, rather then having the fan sucking stinky air into the hood and out. I don't think pushing air through the hood will leak anywhere near as much as if you was pulling it.

Its an air cooled hood and i went down their a little bit ago and noticed it was leaking from the hood...And idk if its getting enough suctions from the fan...could i tape the little gap thats in the hood?

air tight from end to end sir. If ya gotta use the ole duct tape! I have a half roll of gorilla tape keeping my ducting tight may help idk!

Sounds like your on the right track. You def have a leak. Also how much air are you pulling through your filter (cfm)? I know from exp. that the more stinky air that is pulled thru the faster the carbon quits working. BTW Never exaust into the same area you are intaking from. The humidity has a MAJOR role in the degradation as well. You may want to think about a small dehumi. if the relative humidity gets over 60% you are losing a great deal of the odor control. Hope this helps.

I recently read that a carbon filter should be shook a little after ever grow. You could try that. My smell comes from the hoods not being sealed tightly. Advise, don't buy cheap air cooled hoods. Sux but true.

Maybe some of the more experienced growers can let me know for sure, but I'm pretty sure Carbon Filters are rated to a certain CFM, so if you buy them separately you have to make sure you get the right size. Not sure if that's relevant here, as they may have come in a package, but just a though.

They are rated.. but work better if you flow less through them than what they are rated at.
