I like hydro it's cleaner than soil,but i have carpeted floors and i ain't taking no chances on rust spots and possible flooding.
Plus if i need to transport them to a new location the hydro would be a pain and I'd also be shitty if i had a power outage.

if you have carpets you should be using black and white polly on the floor and have it go up the wall a 6 inches or so. you don't want to get that carpet wet at all it could cause black mold and that shit will kill you.

As a primary lighting source:
400 watt is good for a 5x5' area
600 watt is good for a 6.5x6.5' area
1000 watt is good for an 8x8' area

You will get a maximum of about 1 gram per watt of light, this if you do everything perfect. You could put 1 giant plant under a 1000 watt light or you could fit 10 plants in that same spot under the 1000 and the best you could get off either setup would be about 1 gram per watt max.

Edit: Of course that is assuming your 1 plant was capable of that kind of yield. A better example would be to say 2 giant plants, each would give you 500 grams, you get the point.

Strain and conditions,i can harvest 9 plants from a 400w but i would have to use a strain that will yield 3 1/4oz per plant.

for real I got a 4x8 with 2 600's and I'm always moving my plants every day cause the outer edge don't get much light I can't imagine going any bigger than 4x4 not to mention ed rosenthal says to use 3 600's for a 4x8 table but I think you'll get more gpw having 1 600w every 4x4.

I know its not too realistic getting 2gpw but it can be done its just most of them where saying it wasn't possible. .5gpw is all you should really expect your first time if you do a decent job but 1gpw is about it for most growers but plenty of expierienced growers can get over that.

The reason it is rare is because people think it is impossible, and another reason is because people are afraid to run a high number of plants. Why do you think the government is so concerned with a high number of plants? To supply a lot of people, you need a lot of plants.

Slipon the OP could realistically accomplish his plant numbers with a SOG from clones. Think about it. Even a 2x4 flood table can hold 32 plants in 6" pots. And a 3x6 table can hold 72 plants in 6" pots.

IMO a 400w lamp isnt ideal for a 3x3 space, but if you're sogging, it can get the job done.

edit: just realized youre in soil. thats going to be a nightmare

@Winnercircle- What superstoner1 said. Try simple first. Try a few smaller grow's before jumping in the deep end. Is their a reason why you want to go balls deep right from the get go? Do you owe somebody money? LOL.

If you want to cash crop....My advice is to start out small with a couple "select" strains and get to know them. Get to know the REALLY well. Get a couple a strains that have been bread with Big Bud. Getting to know the strain is just as important to cash cropping as how your going to grow it.

Their is a lot you can learn from this site by just looking around and checking out the grow journals...

they would have to be very small plants. you can not fit anywhere near 50 average sized plants under 2 400's.

avg to me ios diffrent than avg to you... its all subjective...

if oyu flowered straight from clone, no veg time or anything i think it would be possible, but youd have to have a planter bed, cause no way are you gonna fit 50 planter pots under the 400 watter, no way its gonna happen. so id opt for a 3x3 bed planted as full of clones as you can.

funny dude i love how people come on here saying shit is impossible.. ive seen it done with a flip flop set up.. 1000w light in each room run on 1 ballast and the guy got 2000grams per room. so if u really think.. since it was only 1 ballast controlling 2 rooms.. he is hitting 2 grams a wat per room..

i have a buddy whose set up is all SOG his plant count is never below 500.. and he is adding flip flops to all his rooms and ballasts.. to make 2 times the amount of rooms.. so he will need like 1000 plants every 2 months. he likes SOG only because the easy trimming of single cola plants.. were everything is ripe as shit.. i will post pics today. going over there right now
