Salt build up in medium?

I have read that salt can build up in medium and kill the plants if you dont flush with pure water during grow.

Do i really need to do this? I have 1 month to go before harvest and I dont want my plants to die now....Nothing wrong with em but i am just wondering if i should do it.

I know i have to cut of nutes and use pure vater for the last 14 days or so..

In my opinion i would never go the last full 2 wks without nutes. I'm prob gonna some flack from a few people for this response, but the hell with it everyone has their own ways.
1- I always run my veg nutes thru the first 2 wks of flower or until the stretch is almost over. Why starve it of nitrogen when the plant is fixing to go thru the fastest growth spurt it will have.
2- The last 2to3wks of flower is when the buds usually pack on the weight and size, why starve them with only feeding water?
A good dry and cure will eliminate the same things as flush without sacrificing weight or size.
Just my thoughts and the way i do mine. I have green healthy leaves all the way up til harvest.
As for the salt build up. 90% of the time salt build up comes from people not watering their plants right. On a regular watering you need to water til you get at least 1/3 run off

You're not starving them. They take what they need from the fan leaves. Theirs plenty of nutrients stored in them to keep the plant alive and well for 10-14 days without nutes. Flushing and running straight water gets out all of the chemicals and excess salt buildup and IMO really helps the bud not taste like a bowl of nutrients.

I run mine up til the last 4to5 days then run a 25% nutrient solution then put them in dark for last 3dys. To me if a plant is cannabilizing itself then its starving . Like i said, just the way i do it and have great results. Not saying my method is right or anyone elses is wrong. But this is what works for me.

The leaves fall of trees because they're an annually growing plant, and if you notice it only happens in fall when colder weather moves in. Not because mother nature all of a sudden cut off all nutrients to the roots of the tree It's not the tree using nutrients from leaves that cause yellowing, its that tree quits processing chlorophyll

essentially, it happens to conserve energy over the winter and prevent damage to the tree. In the spring, the tree puts out new leaves so that the process can begin.

Right, not because the tree is lacking nutrients, but that is the trees annual growth cycle

Do you smoke trees? No. I said the reason to run straight water for 10-14 days is to get rid of the chemical nutrients in the buds. I don't like the taste of chemicals in my smoke so I amongst thousands more flush. I went on to say the plant will take nutrients from the fan leaves when you flush. Hell it will even take nutrients from the lower fan leaves when you're in mid grow. You've never seen a yellow leaf at the bottom of your tent? The plant does it naturally. Fuck some of you are dense.

The reason i say these things is because i did a controlled grow with 4 clones from same mother.
2- plants were switched to flower nutes when i flipped lights to 12/12, 2 were left on veg nutes thru stretch.
2-plants were flushed 2wks prior to harvest, 2 were run til last 5 days then flushed with 20% nute solution til last 3 dys then all were placed in dark for 72 hrs prior to harvest.
The 2 that were switched at12/12 and given complete flush were way smaller and produced less and had dieing leaves all over. The 2that weren't flushed had green healthy leaves all the way til harvest.
All were under same light, temps, rh. Just used 2 diff res
I guess this is 1 of those subjects where people have to agree to disagree cause theres always going to be people on both sides of that fence.

These were taken with only 1 wk left til chop. the specs on a cpl of the leafs you see is from sheetrock dust from drilling holes to rehang lights cause the girls got to 7ft. And thats with t5 lights so dont act like i dont know what the hell im doing.

Thats what the fukn cure is for to remove chlorophyll and chemicals from buds .

Your're right this is heading in totaly the wrong direction.But your the 1 who called some one dense. Anyway, before saying someone is totally wrong try reading a lil on what they're saying. You will find there are a lot of growers who feel the same way about the flush and nute cycles.
Not trying to argue, just trying to help someone out with there grow, which is what i thought this site was partly for. People to get on here and talk bout different techniques and what has worked for them and what hasn't so everyone will benefit in the long run.

Actually the buds were pretty dense, what your seeing is where they started foxtailing bout 6wks into flower. And considering she was sativa dom and done with t5s i think she did pretty damn good. Plus yielded a lil over 7 dry.
