So I've been stressing over what light to get for my Durban poison and White widow... then my brother's new girlfriend comes over who knows all about it. Her very first plant she grew under a single ordinary non-fluorescent light bulb.
She asked all her "expert" friends and was like "do you think it's possible to grow it under a normal light bulb?" They were all like "haha, cute. But no, that's impossible" And she's like "Well there it is!" :D

Just goes to show there may be a "professional" way which brings a higher yield, but I'm guessing from this that you can grow 2-3 average sized plants with 16 hours of light 8 of dark (veggy) and 12/12 for flowering under a couple of 6500k regular fluorescent household bulbs.

I'm gonna experiment with a regular bulb like she did too though ^_^ wish me luck!

regular light bulbs are too hot and inefficient to grow weed. You can grow seedlings but they will stretch or burn up. Besides, CFLs are cheap and use much less wattage anyways.

Really? :D That's what I just bought at lowes!
I bought 4 CFL 6500k bulbs for $22 bucks and 6 2700k CFL bulbs for when I want to start flowering them.

Hey, could I use 4 6500k's and 2 2700k's for the veggy stage and then just all 6 2700k's for flowering?
Would that make a difference or...?

I'm a newbie but I loved her story :] she admitted under a regular bulb it only yielded about a half ounce LOL but still!

I grew a plant that yielded a quarter oz, with a flashlight. 1/2 oz with a picture of the sun. True story.

Cool, I grew basil indoors under the bathroom light and now have a full healthy pot sitting outside :]
I think people make sound generally more complicated than it is. I just thought cannabis was majorly different from any other herb I've grown. I'm more confident now, knowing that there are just a few differences. :3

You need 100 actual watts of CFL's for a decent plant. 150 is even better, A mix of 2700 and 6500 at about a ratio of 1 to 3.. Using multiple 23w bulbs is more efficient then using a lesser amount of higher wattage bulbs. Keep them as close to your nodes as possible.

Ya... I'm just looking to keep them from flowering during the night. I want them to sort of be forced to veggy be having them under some light 8 hours after the sun goes down. These are outdoor plants, it's not their main source of light.
I know some of you think time's up for growing but we're still in the 90's here in Arizona. By the time they're flowering it'll be in the 70's ;)

I did pay lol $500 for a mediocre greenhouse setup with all the soil, potting, lighting, insecticides, seeds that I need for 6 plants.
Unlink most people, I'm doing it legally and I'm a straight A student so I know I can do good for the world. :roll: My mmj card keeps me from blowin out my brains so I can do that. I bought this setup instead of a gun.

Plus it gives me somethin to do when I start thinking too much. :]

Remember that bringing them back and forth between intensities of light can stress a plant, they do need a solid schedule with the same intensity of light.
