The 2 plants that were vegged will be bigger and most likely produce more bud than the young plant.

You can flower just fine with a MH lamp, although HPS is preferred.

Enjoy your late night shit, I am gonna spark a bowl of some fine cheese myself.

So why not run both and have the best of both worlds run a 400watt hps and 400watt mh and have.nice weighted frosty nugs.

Patrick nailed it. HPS produces weight. MH produces an edge in quality. cn
i've been flowering with mh's for my last 2 grows and have been pretty happy with the results..

i've been using sun pulse bulbs.. they come in varying k ranges, much like cfl's do, and you simply pick the correct k range for w/e phase of growth you're in.. ie, i use the 4k for flowering, and the 6k for veg.. they even have a 10k that they suggest to use for the last 2 weeks of flowering.. i just picked up the 10k bulb but haven't had a chance of running them as of yet..

People do that, typically with a 600 HPS and 400 MH. The cash croppers aren't fond of it however. cn
yah, like cn said, lots of people run both mh's and hps to get the best of both worlds.. i've read that the plants that receive the most of both light get the best results.. :D

i find that the mh in the middle of 2 hoods does real well. the stuff directly under the mh doesn't get as big.. but the stuff on the outsides that are getting a little hps &mh kick ass. (gets the extra frost and the size) works real well using both spectrum's.

but like neer said, most people growing only for yield prefer hps

I'd love to give that 10k a go. paired with an HPS, I foresee magic. cn

The slickest setup i ever saw was a pair of bulbs, each in its own hood, on a swingarm. The bulbs were rotated (a full circle one way, then the other) for best exposure and penetration. I don't know if it was an item of commerce, or a one-off, however ... cn
i know that sunpulse makes these things that look like a ceiling fan cannbineer.. on each arm they have a differing k rated bulb... the arms spin at like i forget what rpm rating atm, but i'll guess at about 30 rpm.. not only do you get the mixed k's, but the movement is said to cool the bulbs as well.. i think they come in like 4 and 6 arm varieties.. :D

I don't think I'd want to run four bulbs. But having two with very different spectra on side-by-side light movers ... I like that idea. There's bound to be a reason against it ... while I sally forth to slay the wily cheeseburger, one might come to me ... cn
