germination of cannabis seeds NOT POPPING

ok ive tryed over like 30 seeds in the past couple of days i just dont get it i put them in a wet paper towel and in a zip lock bag i put them in a dark place but i cant get even one to pop i dont know if it is bc its getting cold my house stays around 71 or 72 and my grow room is about 60 i tryed them in my house and nothiing so i tryed them in my grow grabbed them in tin fowl so no light and would make them warm still nothing i just dont know what im doing wrong all seeds are dark or brown and no cracks i just dont get it like 3 months before this i could put 8 in a tow and atleast 6 would pop i thinkk i might go buy some sand paper not like these seeds are worth anything just testing out my hydro system and wanna try some test seeds before i used the ones i payed for i dotn wanna try to germinate my good seeds and kill them lol

Put hem in your mouth one at a time and crack them along the length using your front teeth. Be gentle you are only looking to break the shell not crush the seed. This should be done only after sitting in a moist environment for some time i.e. in a wet paper towel for 24-36 hours. But I am concerned that out of 30 none popped, you may have other issues.

you can try to 'nick' the seed shell, if you haven't tried. with some clippers or nail clippers scrape it or try to carefully break the thin shell without damaging the inside. I had 2 or 3 that didn't work for but about 75% sprouted in 2 or 3 days. planting them in a soil cup about a centimeter deep (round side down pointy side up) works just as well but they need to be kept moist until they grow a couple leaves

Yea im wondering if its something in my water like the gov is trying to stop the right to grow lmfao but i have 2 plants growing hydro fine ( the clone of ones that popped 3 months ago. its just not making any sense but i think im gonna go buy some bottle water today and try that out atlease the 30 seeds were bag seed

yea i was thinking about using some sand paper to put some little holes in it but i need to get off my ass and get some lol

at first like the first 15 seeds was one strain unknown so the other 15 i was hoping would pop bc they were different but no you im thinking i need sand paper and some filtered water to be safe

I think it's too cold for them to germinate is the problem.
Try this, get a paper towel, fold it in half, get it wet then wring it out so it's damp. put it on a paper plate then put about 10 seeds on that. Then get another paper towel, get it wet and wring it out so it's damp then place it on top your seeds, get another paper plate, and place it on top so its all sandwiched in. Then set it on a dryer and let the dryer run 24/7. My seeds all germinated in 3 days this way. I didn't run the dryer 24/7, but my room wasn't 60-71 degrees either. The towels will dry out but just get a couple of coke caps full of water and pour it in there when it does. Keep it dark, warm, and moist and they will germinate.

I can tell you right now what the problem is. It's warmth. You need a heat mat. If it's 70 in your house the paper towels are going to be cold to the touch. That's bad. You want the environment that the seeds are germing in the be warm and humid. Think of a seed in the mud in the springtime with the sun beating down on it. That's what you want.

That being said you need a heat mat and a humidity dome. I would also like to see you steer away from the paper towel method. Go ask any serious breeders if they use paper towels. Ya, it works, but you're handling the seed afterwards. I've been told your dna can get on the seed and cause problems down the road. It's true.
Use peat blocks with the holes in them. You put the seed in the moistened block. The seed spins around on it's own and anchors a tap root. It then lifts itself up and you're vegging. The key is heat and humidity though. It has to be humid for the shell to crack and you need heat to give the seeds energy to lift them selves out or sprout inside a towel etc.
Above your humidity dome put a light about 3 inches from the top. I use a CFL in a work light. This combo of the seed in the block, with a nice warm root zone, all in a humidity dome with a bright CFL light above has been a bullet proof starting set up. I probably blew through over $75 in seeds I couldn't get to germ before I invested in the station. Now I'm batting 1000%. I'm sure there will be a seed down the road that gives me problems but there's one last thing you need and that's confidence. I have confidence now so I can be patient. You don't. For all I know you have a seed in your mouth now between your two front teeth. Patience is a virtue when it comes to germing. Seeds can take from 3 to 14 days according to the breeder I use. Once you get the set up and the confidence it all comes together.

Your good seeds from a breeder will be or should be much more lively than the bagseed you tested with. Bagseed is rough. Sometimes it can be really old. A seed from some schwag could be years old and put through hell compared to a fresh seed from a breeder. All in all you will notice the breeders seeds will pop more easily but they still can be rough without a heat mat.

Viable seeds should sprout even in the high 50's Fahrenheit and at 70 all should sprout although slower than with a higher temp , the seeds will most likely die from damp off in cool conditions if the temps not adjusted soon enough .. Have you even cracked one to see if they are still good ? Seeds dont last long if they are not kept in the right conditions and even then many loose viability in a short time after the intial year they were intended by nature to store ...

Sounds like the seeds are just old or bunk from the get go ! I have seen seeds sprout in 50 degree weather when soils are no higher than 60 every spring outside here in Mi

Try a starter cube too. Thery're cheap and you don't have to mess with the sprout.

ok well i couldnt find a heating mat but i got a heating light....
i put it in the dome under my lights 3 cfl and put a temp gage in it also so far at 73 temp now i got the lamp on low and the seeds are wrapped in tinfowl to block light

Hit with sand paper. Soak in water overnight. They will sink. Throw in damp paper towel and a baggie. Put on top of fridge or whatever is warm. Put a plate over em. Boom..popped seeds 24 to 48 hrs.

All you have to do is throw them in a shot glass w/ tap water and put it on top of the water heater after 5-6hours make sure they sank. If they didn't give them a little poke and they usually sink. 12-48 hrs you will have tails. I've done every seed I've grown this way. Not a single one hasn't germed

Freezing when not wet, plying open, using sandpaper to rub it before germination, and getting it to sink in water before germination. Interesting ideas I've never heard of before!
