well.. again, i don't have a 100 and haven't ever seen one running, so i can't really conceptualize of how it might light a 2x2. on the other hand... a 200 is a beast for it's small size, and i know that it would fill that 2x2 like a boss. keep in mind that if the veggie girls have more intense light, their nodes stay nice n compact. not as intense light will lead to longer internodes.Thank you for the kind words and warm welcome, Spliff. I am glad you think the 420 will work in my 4x2, two more weeks and that sweet piece of induction is mine! I already spoke with Darryl, truly a gentleman and took time out of his day to answer my questions, in length. I was very impressed and grateful, he has truly earned my trust and my business. These next few weeks can not pass fast enough, lol.
Anyway, Spliff, do you think the 100 would be a good veg replacement light for my bs240 in my 2x2? Should I go ahead and just get the 200? Would that be too much light for veg in a 2x2? Thanks again!
chaz i believe had just a smidge over 1gpw with ZERO veg time!Damnit Splifferous... you and chazbolin have convinced me my next lights are going to be Inda-Gro 420s. I'm going to keep running my Dual 600s and single 400w CMH for the winter, keeps the heating costs down, but come spring time... barring a major lighting breakthrough that make all current lighting obsolete, I'm pulling the trigger on (2) 420s and (2) 200s. Going to replace my 1600 watts with 1240 watts. Probably overkill if the 420s are truly replacements for a 725w HPS as they claim... but I'm still not convinced 1/2 the watts is going to get the same quantity, so I'll try 3/4 the watts and hope for the best.
An open question to you and chaz... how many grams are you guys pulling per watt?
Reassuring, but it makes me feel better about deciding to go for 3/4 instead of 1/2 the watts. My current record for my 3x6 space is about 1,100 grams with 1600 watts, so going for 1240 watts instead of 840 watts should keep me about even for quantity, and hopefully quality of light will bump up the quality of the buds at the same time.chaz i believe had just a smidge over 1gpw with ZERO veg time!
Thanks Buck, I'm looking forward to picking up some new toys, it'll be like Christmas in March.im hopin it go's sick for u dude!
No problems at all friend.. any questions the boys will be here in no time to help you out! Thanks Buck, I'm looking forward to picking up some new toys, it'll be like Christmas in March.

I'm currently running 12 plants in a 3x6 area, so that 1600w equates to about 88w per square foot, or 133w per plant. The space is less than ideal, a closet 3ft wide x 6 feet deep, which means I have to keep my aeroponic units and reservoir chiller on a 6ft long, 2ft wide shelving unit on wheels that can be pulled out to access the plants, any wider and it wouldn't fit out the closet door. The reservoir chiller dictates that my aeroponic units sit on a shelf above. A 18"Wx42L" carbon filter sits on a support system up above, that serves the dual purpose of supporting the lights, compressing the height available for my plants. That height limit is currently 30" before the plants hit the glass of my vented hoods, which means that the top of my canopy can be as close as 7" away from the 600w bulbs. They do tend to burn if I let them hit the glass, so I tie the buds down that are in the greatest danger of burning.hey there AcidKing! glad to have been able to help inspire you
first, what are the dimensions of your area that currently has those 1600 watts, and how do you train your plants (ie scrog any?) in my experience, because these are different from HID lights, they can't be treated the same. or don't have to be treated the same.. it depends on what indoor paradigm you prefer for yourself, and the perspective that sets you up for as you look to transition from one to the other. you will not need the height for the 420s that you most likely now need for those HIDs (fixtures not as tall as typical HPS reflectors, but also placed closer to the canopy). also, because i like to really bear the lumens down on the girls in the last couple weeks, i prefer to use movers to make it so i am not leaving any part of the plant unlit. i also love the development on the buds under the main tops when hit with the side light of a moving 420.
Hey spliff! things are looking good on your girls theyre coming along nicely....I just wanted to give you my two cents on this since I currently have a 420 in a 5x5 and I would say it is perfect as far as the light footprint lengthwise but lacks a little in the width and would be perfect with a light mover, I was actually thinking about this a couple weeks ago. So I'd go with the 5x5. I post some pics here shortly for an update on my garden and I'll include the way the light looks in the tent.hey there babybull! thanks so much for the kind words, and for joining the conversation i'm happy you found us too!
first, i wanna mention that i have been plotting out my next garden upgrades, and i am looking at 2x4 or 4x4 tents. options that i have been tossing around, and that i expect would work based on my experience with IG 200s and 420s
a) a single 200PAR on a light mover in a 2x4 tent; 6 inch canopy clearance
b) a single 420PAR in a 2x4 tent; 6-8 inch canopy clearance (and perhaps a bit more ventilation than the 200 would want)
c) a single 420PAR on a light mover in a 4x4 (or 5x5) tent; 6-8 inch canopy clearance
now, those are options that i am looking at, to be playful and learn more... i AM NOT saying that i have ever flowered under a 200, and not promising that it would work with high yields, just that i think it would, and i am getting ready to shoulder the experiment to find out.
for what i DO know about IGs in bloom (420s), i think that your 420 in a 2x4 would absolutely kill it. then when you decide to test veg one under IG vs any LED, i bet you will list that LED on CL and move on... my veg is 2 200PARs over an open 5x10 area and 6 feet off the ground. 3 foot tall girls under them... girls that hit the 3 420s in bloom and take right off with no stress at all; it's the same spectrum, just a lot more intense.
i have heard great things about running 100PARs for clone propagation, i haven't gotten to try that yet as i don't have a 100 yet. based on seeing 200s and 420s in veg, i can't imagine the 100 giving poor results, but i would only think of using it in a 2x2 veg tent or so.
well, i need to get out n water the backyard... just wanted to be sure to get back at ya! once again, it's great to have you around!
hells ya to that, bro! and thanks for the input; totally appreciated!Hey spliff! things are looking good on your girls theyre coming along nicely....I just wanted to give you my two cents on this since I currently have a 420 in a 5x5 and I would say it is perfect as far as the light footprint lengthwise but lacks a little in the width and would be perfect with a light mover, I was actually thinking about this a couple weeks ago.
