I need to make my 600W HPS ballast into a MH ballast. I know it is possible by disconnecting the ignitor from the HPS ballast or something, but im not totally sure??
It will work, but I would not do it for longActually I'm using 2 600W hps magnetic ballasts with metal halide bulbs and its working fine. I never knew you could do that until just recently.
not true, as they make hps/mh mag ballast, just more shit to go wrong though.Digital ballasts accept both MH and HPS.
Magenetic ballasts only accept one unless you have a conversion bulb.
I agree with that. I have some mothers under a T5, and they grow great under T5s as well. I would still use HPS for flower though, the quality of the buds are still really great, and the quantity is nice!hell they flower better under MH too(in comparison of quality not quantity) but Mh is light for veg, or T5 with the proper bulbs choices and depending on how long you want to veg but overalll MH is thie bomb for veg.
thats not true at all there is nothing unsaafe about using a MH bulb in a HPS ballast. this is something the marketers would like you to believe and whats hinted at by them but thats just so you will buy thier products, like "conversion bulbs" conversion my ass! stick one of those "conversion bulbs" in a metal halide ballast i bet that it lights up just fine cause its a regular halide with the words conversion printed on the box.the only reason ppl say to not use mh in a hps ballast, is for safety reasons...
