Convert a 600W HPS ballast into a Metal Halide.... how to do it??

I need to make my 600W HPS ballast into a MH ballast. I know it is possible by disconnecting the ignitor from the HPS ballast or something, but im not totally sure??

Yea i actually just found that out the other day and didnt need to convert the ballast at all. ha makes me wonder why they even have conversion bulbs.

Digital ballasts accept both MH and HPS.
Magenetic ballasts only accept one unless you have a conversion bulb.

Actually I'm using 2 600W hps magnetic ballasts with metal halide bulbs and its working fine. I never knew you could do that until just recently.

not true, as they make hps/mh mag ballast, just more shit to go wrong though.

conversion bulbs are like beepers to me, a thing of the past, like 8 track.Saying we need mh to veg, and hps to flow is just not true with today's bulbs

how do you do it? well you stick a MH in there and voila, you have a MH ballast :)(im so serious its not funny, for real MH can run on any HPS ballast at a small loss of life, if your bulbs are air cooled then you dont even need to worry about that! even if there not still no need to worry!)

hell they flower better under MH too(in comparison of quality not quantity) but Mh is light for veg, or T5 with the proper bulbs choices and depending on how long you want to veg but overalll MH is thie bomb for veg.

I agree with that. I have some mothers under a T5, and they grow great under T5s as well. I would still use HPS for flower though, the quality of the buds are still really great, and the quantity is nice!

easier to go w the conversion bulb, and mosst cost efficient....i do the same...and yes, its possible to veg w hps...but from my understanding they do the best w mh..

the only reason ppl say to not use mh in a hps ballast, is for safety reasons...
thats not true at all there is nothing unsaafe about using a MH bulb in a HPS ballast. this is something the marketers would like you to believe and whats hinted at by them but thats just so you will buy thier products, like "conversion bulbs" conversion my ass! stick one of those "conversion bulbs" in a metal halide ballast i bet that it lights up just fine cause its a regular halide with the words conversion printed on the box.

so true, any mh can be run in hps of like wattage with minimum loss of life, ive been doing this for years. u cant run hps in halide unless its a conversion bulb. i have been actually thinking of splitting my ballast and running one hos for 6 hours and one mh for 6 hours or just buying a hortilux bulb.
