What does neem oil do for a plant?

A friend mentioned that I should spray my plants with neem oil. He says that it will give the leaves a sheen and also works as a pesticide. Anyone know any additional info on neem oil? Thanks

[h=3]What is neem oil?[/h] Neem oil is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from the neem tree. It is yellow to brown, has a bitter taste, and a garlic/sulfur smell. It has been used for hundreds of years to control pests and diseases. Components of neem oil can be found in many products today. These include toothpaste, cosmetics, soaps, and pet shampoos. Neem oil is a mixture of components. Azadirachtin is the most active component for repelling and killing pests and can be extracted from neem oil. The portion left over is called clarified hydrophobic neem oil.

Heard of it (neem). Never used it. ACTINOVATE for powdery mildew. You use it in your watering routine. I NEVER have PM issues. Highly recommend it.

Neem is too persistent for flowering and lemon water is the wrong direction pH wise. Alkaline solutions will inhibit fungal growth.

neem oil is a tool in the arsenal for preventing/mitigating mite damage. also does give the plant a nice sheen, is known to help prevent certain types of mold. you can use it for up to 2 weeks before flower, but don't spray when it's sunny out.

also, i prefer einstein oil to neem oil, although it is a bit pricier.
