City of New York bans large sodas. Seems normal people are getting punished for fat peoples lack of control.

(I know it's a horrible, dirty, "liberal" source, but still)

Freedom fuck yeah!

Yeah, there you go, the ability to purchase large tubs of disease producing liquid at will is the "freedom" our forefathers endangered their life, liberty and property for.

A "normal" person doesn't need 64 ounces of mountain dew.

If it keeps some clowns from drinking this crap, all the better. The regulation will make vendors more money.

it's horse shit cando, what is to stop the same person from going in and buying 4 medium soda's instead of one large size??

i just don't see this curing anything.. just because you can't buy 64 ounces anymore, who's to stop someone from buying 4 22 ounces instead??

I'd personally be of the opinion that if someone wants to drink a gallon of soda, that's their choice.

I see you value personal freedoms tho.

that's what i'm saying, what do i care what you put into your body?? not at all honestly... plus, who ever came up with the size limit? i mean, did someone do a study and find out say 50 ounces of soda at one time was too much for a healthy person to consume at one time, or did they simply pull a figure out of thin air, which is what would be my guess..

and i kept coming back to my initial thought, if it's a legal substance, which i'm fairly sure soda hasn't been changed to a schedule one drug like our lovely cannabis, why the hell can't people buy it in w/e size they want??
i don't see the same city limiting how many beers a person can buy at say a baseball game, and surely drinking too much alcohol at one sitting is way more deadly than one big gulp imho....

Obama's fault. More reason to vote mittens. He wouldn't let this happen, he'd ban abortion instead! Even if the girl was raped by her dad! No wait, if she got pregnant it wasn't legitimate rape, she was probably wearing mini skirts trying to get him to rape her. Definitely it.

i'll leave it at this.. take cigarettes for instance.. i can go into a store in nyc and buy either a pack of 20 of them, or i can buy a cartoon of them in the same stores.. surely a cartoon of smokes is much worse for me and the people around me than a big gulp is..

Not a thing, if they want to get three of them, the vendor makes more money and the buyer has to think twice.

Big business has managed to convince you that "freedom" is the choice of a big mac or a whopper. You have been convinced that freedom has anything to do with consumerism - it doesn't. But Corporations really want you to believe it does.

probably some lobbyist for speedway trying to stomp out the 7-11 competitors lol

you see at 7-11 its the same price for a 64 oz as speedway charges for a 32...

It is perfectly legal to purchase a single package of pseudoephedrine. It is not legal to purchase a case of it. Do you have a problem with that as well?

Right, and keep in mind when these people drinking 64 ounces of Mountain Dew get sick and go to the doctor it raises healthcare costs for everyone.
Oh, so does all processed foods, white bread (enriched flour), rice, starchy foods like potatos. Heck, we all need to eat nothing but couscous and drink water.
that "has been deemed unhealthy for you, hence illegal. now lets go to taco bell while we listen to Oscar Meyer Weiner 50's commercials on the radio". (Referance to Demolition Man for you younger guys).

I clicked on a link supplied by UB that had an ad from Chevron stating "Do you think Big Oil should support local schools? We Do!" "Click here if you agree" that's just too close to home........:finger:

I can't believe how some of you wacko lefties on here whine and cry about how the government should let us grow and smoke all the pot we want, because it's our constitutional right, but defend a dumb ass law telling people how big of a fucking soda they can drink!
