Honestly I see what you are saying now and I think we are talking about two different things.. kind of. I take my plants out of my room at around day 50-55 when the pistils are just starting to die back. They go into the cold dark chamber which I have found stops what I call "towering" (the regrowth of nodules on what should be the finishing bud). I have found when the buds start doing this they don't get as potent as if they kept finishing. My plants spend up to a week in this room and never lose quality. Beyond a week mold can set in.. Cant be a waste because by the time I have finished trimming my last plant the new line is already week 2. With a split room I harvest every 3 weeks this way. It is by far more efficient than anything else I have come up with and I do believe the fruit ripens more evenly under these conditions.

As far as mites go.. I just got an atomizer! Bye Bye little buggers!!

I always let my buds finish to the end no matter what. I never cared for the darkness period before chop that everyone talks about. I've read 24 hrs, 48 hrs , and 72 rs. I did a grow at a buddies place that was a little older of a place. I couldn't run the amount of lights I wanted to, but it did run fine till the end. Towards the end of my grow I would show up to the place and the lighs would be off when they should have been on. The timer would read 4am when it was really 1 in the afternoon. My buddies would be like "oh yeah the power went out yesterday for alittle while ha ha ha" that would piss me off everytime. The lights would sometimes go out and would give them 13-14 hours of darkness. I'd say the last two weeks were constant blackouts for them. When I did finally chop I really didn't notice anything. It was untill I was smoking it a month later that I noticed how frosty it looked. So my next run I did try the whole darkness thing on a plant, but did 72 hours. When the 72 hours were done, it looked like I turned Reggie (Mexican shwaaggg) into white widow! Powdered sugar all over it! Lol na not really. In fact there was no difference at all! It wasn't again till a month later that I could see the difference in the two. But as far as getting me higher or it tasting better no big deference. The biggest difference was the look but still worth it to me. sorry about the cheap phone pic....but visually in person its a huge difference.

Friday was my predetermined chop day for a white widow and afghan kush white widow but i was looking at them today and decided they could use another week. So i am going to water them thoroughly and put them in the dark at 63 degrees until next thursday. Ill clip buds for comparison.

i would wait until they are fully ripen before throwing them in the darkness, if not you will suffer on the density and on your final yield... even after everything is milky i still wait till my plants are dense from top to bottom, i mean rock hard...but by then you will have some amber, which i dont mind i just cant stand fluff! its usally another week or two from when you usally think its time too cut..lol goodluck

  I know i love rock hard nugs to. But you know what I smoked some friggen good fluffy bud before,, Just because its hard, don't mean its better,, But saying that I grow Nugs so heavy that can't stay up without support.. Mary jane just does what she wants..

This plant sat for 6 days in the COLD dark before it was finally cut. See the point of this is that I have already moved my plants into the bloom room. You can move the plants out of the room at 50% amber and they will finish in the dark. Overall you gain between 1 to 2 weeks or several thousand dollars per year using this method. Not only do the plants not suffer from this but they will actually improve. There is no downside to using this method, just make sure the plants are DRY before moving them out of the room. They will not wilt in the cold dark atmosphere but will mold if they are watered prior to moving into the ripening room. Using ten gallon smart pots of ready gro/worm casting mix, with 6 foot trees, I give two days after flush to dry out completely and then move the plants out and move my new line in. Let them sit for two days minimum then start trimming one at a time.
