48 hours darkness ??

first time i tried this i lost 48 hours worth of light, which could have went towards making slightly bigger buds.I is true that trichomes grow in the dark but there is a limit if it wasn't then i'd put it in there a week or even more.I'd rather harvest 1 1/2 oz of something 20%+ in thc than 2-3 oz of something 16% thc but since this is only a myth i don't.Nothing grows w/o light even what grows in the dark cause it uses energy stored from light.12 hours worth of energy is gonna run out before 48 hours
Listen.. this is really ignorantly put and is pretty much entirely off base. Read up on photosynthesis before you start telling people that a plant uses up its 12 hours of light if there are 12 hours of dark. You really are wrong here and your anecdotal evidence is not strong enough to contradict scientist and professional growers. In fact based off of your avatar... not even strong enough to contradict my anecdotal evidence. I say it works everytime!

You're the one who posed the question and it doesn't work as you may think and the picture in my avatar was taken over 6 years ago i got plenty more pics of other grows i just chose the one from a cfl grow.I been on this site for over 4 years despite what my account says(2009) i lost my other passwords and emails but anyway i been thru this question a million times. It's just a myth

Sorry i was not trying to attack you. It is just that I took the trouble to post the article and excerpt for you why this works and go as far as to tell you that in my extremely successful grow this is also what I do. and you come back and just say Myth. May-June12 1662.jpg

And the question was posed by Dr Kush. I know this works and how to do it successfully.

"Anyone who tells you darkness before harvest is not better has clearly never done it. Not only is it scientifically proven but you can easily prove it yo yourself by doing it to one plant and not the other."

Please oh please link the so-called scientific evidence that darkness at harvest works.

I've tried it, more thne once, with the same strains in the same pots that were fed the same thing.

This is MYTH! It's OLD NEWS.

Have you guys ever tried it? Or are you just talking cause you think you know? I happen to know very well that it does work and I also know why.. But I am also sure your plants look nothing like mine or you would not be arguing something as obvious as the benefits of cold and dark prior to harvest. Your cola there is covered in spider mite damage, I'm personally glad my plants look nothing like yours ;). That being said, I've tried this darkness deal on over a dozen strains now (tried it on a few accidentally during a power outage recently). It doesn't make any appreciable difference and no one can pick out one bud from the other in a blind test.

Here's a quote from your link:

There is really no confirmed method of forcing increased THC production.

Nah my plants look really good. I was just using the photos I had readily available. The one I just posted above looks pretty good though right ;) I also if you read the excerpt from the link never said it increased THC. Simply that it stops the destruction of THC without stopping the production which can yield as much as a 1% or more jump in THC. You gotta decrease the temp too though or you are not helping your plants at all. It has to be an air conditioned, dark room.

If you can discern a 1% difference in THC then I'd like to hire you as a tester my friend ;).

Honestly I just flushed today, so over the next week I will be able to take some high def photographic evidence and you guys will never be able to look at those meager little sluts in your room the same...

You'd prob like to hire me to help you grow too, but alas I am unhireable due to my personal success. However, you can listen to the advice of someone who knows what they are talking about and benefit from that. The difference between a 17% and 20% strain is tremendous. If I can squeak 21% somehow then that is worth the extra step to me.

Well I definitely wouldn't put you in charge of pest control ;).

lol funny. Honestly, those photos are from my spider mite control photos. I am working on writing my own book (just didn't want to be poked fun and called a liar so I didn't say that) but I couldn't find a harvest photo easily on this laptop so I just used photos from this section .DSC01105.jpgDSC01106.jpgDSC01149.jpgDSC01191.jpg

Grow done with no pesticides letting the mites take over. then vacuuming with a low rate screened vacuum and placing the plants in the freezing dark for two days. and this is the same plant..

Your the one fighting with us with your spider mite army. Not all of us need helping. Get off welfare and go back to Walmart.

I really dont like to be such a bold ass hole, but please some of the people here are smart. They do know what they are talking about. Dont join a forum and start calling us all dumb asses and fighting with us.

There are numerous scientific reference available on the internet which discuss the production of cannabinoids throughout a female plant's life cycle. They unanimously show that THC, CBN etc are made fairly uniformly and steadily over the entire life of the plant, with the % increasing to a maximum at full maturity.

So, it takes about 1920 hours of growth to achieve the maximum potency genetically available to the plant. I don't believe that an extra 24 hours in the dark (over and above the 780-odd hours of darkness the plant will have received over the preceding 2 months) will make the slightest bit of noticeable difference to anyone's grow.

If you believe you can notice the difference, then go for it I guess. Me...I'll just stick to gettin high and not worrying about it.

sigh..
actually the plant stays at right around 3% THC content throughout its entire life and then right at the end THC content increases drastically, suddenly and without us knowing the cause.. So with all of the THC production packed into the cycle of the plant no wonder this method works so well. You people are wrong about pretty much everything.. Don't you guys read about this plant at all?

PS if you dont believe this is true cut your bitch down 2 weeks early, smoke that premie and tell me it has 6 weeks worth of THC.

For someone who has had an autocloner burn up in his grow room where temps where 80+ degrees and plants covered in mites you have alot of nerve calling people dumbasses. Let us know when your mite covered products start winning cannabis cups or when your book hits the shelf so we can bow down to your greatness, your amateur night bro!
