Why, exactly 12/12?

We all know why we go 12/12, but once we know the plants flowering,... what's an extra hour of light going to do (13ON/11OFF) other than make bigger buds??..
I think i've read about folks flowering at times other than 12/12, or am i high again?
Anyone give there bitches more light when their full on making that sticky icky?

Perhaps, like a lot of times, what you can do depends on the strain you're growing, since auto's can take 24/0 and still flower, i know its possible,.. i wonder how much adding an hour of light delays the flowering completion time though, if any.

Marijuana plants are annuals meaning they grow and die within a year and thus follow the seasons and how the sun hits the earth and for how long. This has been a part of the inner working on the Marijuana plant as it has evolved for thousands of years and sort of programmed into them that when the sun hits the earth for more than 12 hours a day it means that the year is ending and must flower in order to reproduce for next year. It's basically the inner clock that has been programmed over thousand and possibly millions of years since it became to be.

So, what happens when you give an annual plant an hour more light ON time, say a few weeks after its internal alarm clock went off? I can't imagine it goes back to veg mode cuz of it,... and more light equals more bud right?..

depends on your light setup. i run 11-13 dark. some people run 14-10 dark it s preference and a timing for harvest thing.

12-12 is just right in the middle and works, its proven, so it gets used.

I suggest after she starts flowering you don't mess with the time. She relies on that to keep her internal workings on cue; adding an extra hour after she goes into flowering can cause either for her to turn hermaphrodite because it will think that she missed the harvest time and she needs to reproduce in order to survive so she starts creating male parts instead of buds or she can go back to re-veg but you won't like the outcome, the new growth is usually deformed for a while and it takes considerable amount of time for her to recuperate IF she ever does. Trust me 12 hours of light is plenty when flowering and the more stable you have this light regimen the better your harvest will be. Instead of adding an extra hour of light add extra lights in those 12 hours; you'll achieve the same goal and not mess with her internal clock.

its not the hours of light but the hours of darkness that the plant is receptive to. Do sum research on it. there are many people who have there lights onfor 14 hours but still give them 12-13 hours of darkness. some plants will stress but some are receptive.

Sorry but how the hell do you use a timer with a 26-27 hour cycle? You would have to manually turn them on and off. IMO it's best to add more lights than to mess with the time the lights are on or off. Creating consistency in those times is beneficial to the overall health and progress of the plant.

settle down stranger. every strain is difrnt. some might go back to veg easier than others, just like some will herm easier than others, it is a generalization and if you trully wanted to simulate the end of a season you would reduce the hrs of light every 2 weeks. have you done a side by side of clones flowered at 16 and clones flowered at 10???? was there a gain or loss???? just by comparing outdoor and indoor the buds outdoor get huge with less light

Well if you get the light cycle back to 15 on and 9 off that would make it reveg...no matter how late in flower it was.

Simulates what nature does when it is time to flower as the season is ending and winter is coming, ie, why all the buds you see on this sight are so great. Nature brother, you cant fool mother nature.

its just an average a lot has to do with light spectrum. your not telling/showing me anything new or unheard of, hell i can make plants flower under 24/7 light using the right spectrum. a plant really only need 8 hours od darkness to flower but type of light play a big part to weather flower or not.

The only type of Cannabis you can make flower under 24/7 lights in an autoflower or ruderalis and you can flower using an MH light too by the way; I use the MH light for the first 2 weeks of flowering to keep the stretch to a minimum because the HPS spectrum increases the stretch those first 2 weeks and by the end of those 2 weeks she's already started to bud, every time. I've seen growers half way through their grow have to use the MH light because their HPS broke or whatever and they have finished their grow just fine, not as well perhaps but a good harvest nonetheless. Very few strains would flower at only 8 hours of darkness (if any); most will flower with 10 or more, 12 to be sure.

I'm growing some Blue Kush (locally available clone) it react very well to a 13h light on/11H light off regimen it increase it's production by 12% to 15% if you consider one extra hour cost only 4.16% more on the power bill I call this a good investment. I have to admit I'm not sure if this would work with every available strain.

with so much rep i am right. i dont care what you have to say of course plant will flower under MH(duh has nothing to do with what i said) but it will affect growth.

if you really dont think you can flower under 24/7 i can tell you how if you would like. regulars can be flowered under 24/7 if given the right conditions, believe what you want but it all comes down to controlling the hormones through the light and other things. seriously dude im not lying.
