Heat / Inline fan issues!! Help!

Hi guys,


My setup is far is a 1000w MH/HPS, AC, 70CFM exhaust fan with a circulating fan inside the room.

So far so good, my guys just sprouted(5 out of the 5, hopefully the rest catchup) but the room keeps getting too hot. I mean, at times it's pushing nearly 100F when I'm not there to manually cool it, even with the AC. I've been thinking I probably need a new exhaust(200cfm+) and maybe that might help with heat a little bit, but my ventilation for the room as well is shitty. It's a walk in closet about 8feet in height, and possibly 5 by 7 if not a little more in length. The door's are from the apartment which is a pretty sturdyicouldnttellyouwhatitsmadeoutof, maybe wood and drywall lol. That's about the only spot I have to put the inline fan because other then that, there's no where else to stick the inline fan. As I look at it though(the door), i can't help but see how hard it might be to go through it and with what tools can I use? This door seems impossible to take off the hedges because they seem to be painted over them or the screws it self are so old.

Okay, I guess this ended up being more then one question.

1. Will a bigger exhaust fan help with heat? And by how much if I throw em right next to the light(heat from the light)
2. Any suggestions on where to stick my inline fan? should I cut off a big hole thru the drywall?!?!(Sounds crazy, but damn, I hope the neighbors don't complain!(remember I'm in a apartment building)
3. What better way can I improvise my grow room? Like, forget the inline? Get a better exhaust and maybe a CO2 tank and work with what I can?Maybe a sealed room?

Yeah man for a room that big you definitely need a bigger fan, Im not sure how big but I know 70 CFM isnt enough.

All depends if you can exhaust the heat of the light to another room.

I wouldnt suggest cutting up a rental, do you have an air cooled hood? a 400 cfm exhaust fan with a controller pulling hot air to another room, and cold air coming in from the main room that the closet in is your best bet

What kind of A/c are you talking about?

hey Waxxy, I'm talking about the Penguino CT90, I forget the makers, starts with a D. Anyways, it's still pretty hot, and I think tmrw I am going to go to the store and pick up a new inline fan. Can I hang the 300CFM+ inline fan next to my light and exhaust it out? or does it need to be somewhat mounted on a wall/ceiling?

You should have gotten an air cooled fixture for that light if you don't already have one. That is a MUST for a 1000watt light unless you have some kind of SUPER A/C unit. 1000watt lights put off about 4000BTU of heat which is what an El Cheapo model window A/C unit cools. You need an air cooled fixture, inline fan to pull cool air through said fixture, and somewhere to exhaust the hot air as it comes out of the light fixture....somewhere out of the grow room obviously.

take the door off and put your own cheap door ( $25) on the front and punch a hole in that. Get a centrifigal fan ,they clear the room much quicker, run ducting from the hole you made to the fan positioned in a secure place and ducting from the fan outside or to another room.

Thats right you must cool the 1000 or its too hot.

Cool. However, is a inline fan the same as an exhaust? Are you talking about hanging up my inline fan up high and running the duct from the door I placed to it? So it's exhausting out the door? What do you mean "and" run ducting from the fan to another room? Whats the purpose of the fan then? Lol, sorry if I misunderstood you.

If you run your inline fan sucking air through your air cooled lights, it is more efficient.....so basically [400watt]>>>air>>> flow>>>>[400watt]>>>>>[Inline Fan]>>>>>>[Ducting to exhaust port] which exhausts the hot air out of the closet. I said to another room because I figured you were keeping the door open to the closet....if you were to keep the door open to the closet obviously you would have to exhaust the hot air from the lights to another room, otherwise, your box fan you got setup in the door would just suck the same exhausted hot air right back into the closet. See?

Basically you gotta have cool air coming in your room from somewhere, which i believe you said something about just keeping a box fan in front of the closet door
