plant not flowering

i only got 1 plant this year an i started it late in june. i live in so cal. last year i started in may and when july 22 came they went into flower nicely. but this year it already august 16 and its only showing preflowers. wtf is going on, thx.

a lot things could be going on,
you could have a sativa dominant strain, that wants to flower later.
you could have strain that's is sensitive to the light and demands closer to 12 hours of daylight to flower, some only take 14.5/14/13/12. every strain is different

anyways, just some insight for you, my plants(whats left of them after a recent hurricane) are not flowering yet too. that have been stuck in pre-flower stage since late June.

from what ive seen and heard yes it should finsh with no problem its all in the strain you have some take 4 to 8 some take up to 12 wk's

don't worry man, come september first they'll have at least dime size buds every where and come October first they'll be big cola's with a week or so left. No worries nature will definitely take it's course. That being said you do want to make sure you don't have any light leaks around you during the dark time. Also try not to visit with flashlights at night either. They are very photosensitive plants.

Light leaks? Outside? I swear to God people make too much of this crap with "light" and incidental exposure to it. Your flashlight advice MIGHT be advisable. Use the green LED headlights to visit. Make sure you are not visible as they do draw attention. Otherwise less is best regarding humans intervening in plant life cycles.

Light leaks outdoors? Flashlights creating problems? Really!!!! Listen I open my flowering room during lights out, turn on a cfl, and do what I have to do on occasion and have never had a problem.

Its outdoors though. They get a frequency of light that outside gives it. Im not expecting till october also, gotta give some time after the fall equinox. (Sept. 21), due to light frequency. I have only a couple experiences with early bloomers(from seed-germed in march),(flowered and ready by July)(Outdoors). But thats my experience. I like to take advantage of the full seasonal grow. But I am also sb420 compliant, so I havnt much worries about the g-birds and drones.(especially flyin around this desert).

What you feed it doesn't determine whether it flowers or not, that's strictly dependent on hours of darkness. Of course when it is in flower, bloom nutes will supply what will help it flower better
