Why would it get the ire of people then but not now?Exactly what has been being done. Threaten landlords, threaten officials, threaten banks, enlist the help of the IRS, confiscation without arrest (the arrest thing will garner the ire of those who may not like the stuff but don't think people should go to jail over it). I can be elevated by attaching demands to Federal matching funds, highway funds and the like.
I never understood why so many can only see the brute force of the Federal government. I argue constantly with those who a bit whistfully imagine those famouse jack booted thugs marching from door to door confiscating firearms at the point of machine guns. Never happen, we are all too interdependent and it is too easy for government to simply enforce a choice. With guns it is "your home and financial security or your weapon", with pot it is "wanna keep your rental? dump the nasty pot dealers". "want us to blame you Mr. Mayor, for the doings of those nasty pot dealers you agreed could set up shop in your city?"
Troops? Why? Troops are admitting that things have failed, troops are expensive in money AND PR, troops incite, especially in America.
Why would it get the ire of people then but not now?
I'm not sure a more liberal court would help with the war on drugs either. If you listen to Sotomayer and Kagan what the limiting factors of the commerce and general welfare clause is they say there is none. This means if they decided drugs are bad mmkay? they could rule that the federal government can strip the states of their rights to MMJ under either clause.
Stacking the court with more central planners is high risk, low reward. There would only be expansion of Federal powers, always. Our best bet right now is still state by state, please don't take away that chance.
Gin, I respect you and your opinions. I heartily urge you to review recent SCOTUS rulings, especialy those that run along partisan lines. I believe you will find that the "central planners" are almost always the ones on the right side of that divide. They rarely encounter a case where they don't defer to the government side of things. You have been led to believe that the right does not encourage increase in federal power and in that you are quite incorrect. In those rare instances where SCOTUS does not find for governmental power, they find for big business.
It was done in order to get our foot in the door, in order to "normalize" the smoking of pot in the culture - it worked, but the CA law was and still is a disaster. California's initiative process is a monstrosity that has rarely shown good results. Everyone has a different take on 420 and 215. I tend to agree, everyone should start over with new laws and those laws should include reasonable profit.TIme to shitcan the whole medical dispensary law now
Make marijuana illegal to sell
legal to possess for everyone

I'm being converted to a Chesus fan.
Oh no, no no. Funny thing, I rail against consumerism and the free market all the time but I appreciate it's power and enjoy some of it's protections. Take the money out of pot and you will see that vaccuum filled with another class of money making.. from pot. Best to let it be bought and sold like everything else - wine is the perfet example.Medical marijuana is a joke
and before you get on me about some people get a benefit from Marijuana medically
The vast majority of them do not
You got dispensary busts because these places are raking in tens of thousands of dollars a day
growing on such a large scale that they are supplying other dispensarys
and have docs on premises where you can get a recommendation no matter what your health as long as you follow a script
Whats wrong with getting high?
Make weed legal to possess and grow if you are over 18
But illegal to sell for any amount
Everyone can have their weed and smoke it too
And lets face it. If you got a freind who is between crops. You're going to give him some weed anyways.
Totally take the money out of the drug business and legalize the weed
There goes the neighborhood, soon I will have no one to argue with.
Do you really want Phillip Morris and RJ reynolds involved?Oh no, no no. LOL!
I have been a fan of yours for the longest and argue with you more than anyone on this site. Chesus has been bringing it lately and agree or not I appreciate that.
Do you really want Phillip Morris and RJ reynolds involved?
I quit smoking cigarettes 2 weeks ago
Now I vape ejuice. Saves me a shit load of money and the house dont stink
Lorillard and RJ reynolds are buying into E cigs now
And coincidentally
Now there are calls for regulating the e cigs, and the ingredients to make the juice
How much you wanna bet who the likely suspects are?
For around 60 bucks i can buyI didn't say no regulation and I didn't say that we should continue to allow virtual monoplies
My advice? take up cigars. For around 60 bucks i can buy
PG and VG
nicotine base
and flavoring for a years worth of smoking
Ever since RJ reynolds came out with the vuse e cig
and lorrilard bought Blu e cigs
There is bills popping up all over trying to outlaw nicotine base so people like me cannot make there own and instead have to buy prefilled cartomizers from big tobacco
