there is a huge difference between the two. Registration is not voting, no one has been able to prove or even offer any evidence that ACORN intended an orchestrated subversion of the vote in any municipality in any state of the Union. Claiming that they are the same is lazy reasoning. The core of the discussion is that ACORN's registration irregularities is somehow the same as inhibiting the legitimate vote of entire classes of citizenry, a class that is likely to generaly vote a certain way.
The right tends to confuse (intentionaly I believe), voter fraud, registration fraud and election fraud. More times than otherwise, the right tends to involve itself in election fraud. Caging, purging, intimidation and subterfuge with regard to voting is most often something that the right perpetrates. I often claim that Republicans have no respect for citizens or the democratic process and we continue to see overt evidence that I am correct.
