First grow attempt!

Hello yall this is another noob doing their first grow attempt! I recently just bought a 1000w set up, I dropped $270 out the door! However, before that is setup I would like to setup a veg room, I would like a persistent harvest time. However, I do not know which route to take, CFLS or T5? Also, did I mention that i'm not rich and that I would like to grow medical quality type buds? Some help would be awesome! My flower room will be an 8 x 8

Thanks!

I was looking to upgrade my fluorescents to t-5 bulbs for the first few weeks of vegetation. Prolly next year. A t-5 setup could range from 200 to 400, depends on company and how many bulbs the fixture has. Sounds like you have a limited budget you can go the cfl route or utilize fluorescents. Taking into account your limited budget you can go the cfl route for if you do fluorescents work for first few weeks of vegetation but I then utilize a 400 mh to finish up my vegetation cycle. Nice room size for your flower room would you have dimensions in vegetative portion yet?

Negative, no veg dimensions yet...I haven't been able to find anyone give detailed dimensions or instruction on how they set up their veg rooms... I might just have to come up with my own dimensions and post the process on here.

I agree with alley-walker CFL's 6500k are the way to go for veg. With respect to dimensions, yes you come up with a preliminary plan and post it in the grow room and design forum.

1000 watts is just right for an 8' X 8' flower room and no larger. As to specific lights for veg you need to know your square footage as light needs are assessed by watts/sq ft. Pure sativas require much higher wattage per square foot than do pure indicas. Hybrids/crossbreds whatever require various wattages somewhere in between. Plan your dimensions/square footage and consider the pattern a reflector/hood will be.

Then the strains you are going to run. Better advice after that.

Been under a 1k since they were three weeks old, before that they sat on my bathroom sink with no light.

Well i'm planning on doing 6 plants under ther 1000w, how does that sound? So if i wanted to keep 6 in veg how many 23w would I be needing?

I would also like to mention that i will be using coco. As for nutrients, i'm not really sure, the dude at the store recommended botanicare, its what he uses, he might have even given me a sample of his flowers. However it is a little pricey...Anyone happen to know how long those 1L bottles last forr? 6 plants

I have 6 22 gallon tubs, jammed close but no SOG. Maybe close but enough light penetration below the canopy I get a lot of side bud by using 4 dual tube shop lights vertically to light the oldest flowering girls. Next gig in the same space will be SCROG. Easier to keep trained to center of light field. Live and learn.

As to 6 in veg with that wattage I would use 1 per plant minimum. But I go big. .44 magnum & .45 auto pistol, .300 & .338 Win Mag. But I am in grizzly country going for moose that can and will gladly stomp you to death. They are big.

Going for big plants use big watts. For max yield vegetate a minimum of 2 months on regular strain photoperiod strains. A minimum! Feed, water, water. Feed, water, water. Do not vary, do not overwater. Do not use nutes until about 3 weeks to 4 weeks old and no less. 1 time a week in most areas indoors seems average on RIU as to times to water/feed. A 400 (good) or 600 (better) MH in veg would give you much denser growth if used properly.
