Hello guys, thanks for taking a look at my thread.

This is my first attempt at cloning, took the cuttings this morning and they are happy (hopefuly) in there medium.

Soaked rockwool (crappy third world cubes) in ph adjusted water with 2ml per gallon sensi bloom A+B for 24 hours. Misted them before putting them in tray

Humidity is at 88 and my temp was at 75 and it is now at 77(placed in closet about an hour ago) with a 60w CFL a foot above the top of the dome.

My heating mat is a pharma one as they dont have grow mats here. I had the setting on low with a towel in between the tray and the mat so its not too much heat.

Used clonex gel for 2 rock and 2 regulars, and used stim-root powder on the other 2/2. Want to see if i notice any difference in gel vs powder.

Questions:

1. The heating mat, is it ok on towel? I dont want to cook my roots, also should i put it on a timer or should it always be on?

2. Is the light too much? Should i raise it?

3. Should I turn on a small fan in there facing the light(bulb gets hot to the touch)? or perhaps put the fan on the top shelf of my small cloest to provide a little air movement?

4. I misted them and so far nothing is drooping, it has been 4 hours since they hit the dome, how often do you guys mist? Daily? leave em alone for 5 days?

I have read where people say dont lift the dome for a week, also people say after the third day.

What are you guys recommending for the next 8-12 days to keep these babies healthy and rooted?

Any other tips/comments/advice is most welcomed as this is my first go at cloning and would like to know what I am doing wrong and how i can get a high success rate!! THANK YOU!

Your hood should be on constantely, heat is ok at 75, I never mist my clones, I have a small layer of perlite in the tray with enough water to keep the perlite moist the cubes are sitting on top of the perlite ,that way the heat will evaperate the water making it not nesasry ( spelling? ) to mist. when you see signs of roots, gradually raise the hood a little dayly, that is raise it higher and higher each day to aclamate the clones to fresh air, eventually you will be able to remove the hood.....Hope this helps....that's how I do it with good success. Oh btw I heard said that powdered root hormone is much better than cloning gel, you decide.

i put a cfl pretty much on top of my dome and my propigater is a plug in heated base i put in on for around 2/3 hrs a day with a little tub of water in side to keep it humid. i spray them after 2 days 3 times aday at the first sign of roots i crack open the vent on top of the dome a little bit each dayby the time the vent is all the way open the roots r showing them selfs well.then of to pots they go.i use clonex too no complaints so far.never used rooting powder so cant make a judgement on the stuff

75 is great, a little warmer for the actual cubes. I have one 75 cell tray with an 8x15 or so heating mat and dome. I clone about 16-24 every other week, maybe more if friends need some. I keep my mat on 24/7 while keeping the rockwool nice and saturated but not soaked. Dome on until roots show as stated above. No need for nutes or phd water at this point. I use clonex gel and tap until full roots show then into 5x5 pots they go. A bit of wilting but in 12 days i have fully stable clones ready for the journey. Good luck bub

Thanks for all the replies guys it helps alot, I really like the perlite idea. I used it to germ some seeds a little bit ago.

a2seed. how often do you water your rockwool? do you re soak them in water and place em back onto tray?

My rockwool is shit and really hard to work with. Its the stuff they use for wall insulation i guess not hydro grade or anything. Its like in layers and very hard.

Looks like im on the right track however. Below are the roots of a liberty haze seed i germinated with the perlite on the bottom of tray, and the tall plant is the rocklock while the other is a regular bagseed of some dank.

After initial soaking for fresh cuttings i pop them in the tray and water the next morning pretty much soaking up the whole cube without creating a stem rot issue. 100% success every strain i came across so far. Im lovin that perlite idea but may be a little messy at times. Also could use clay pebbles as they hold decent mositure while creating a barrier from the excess water.

Thanks for your answer a2seed. I think using clay pebbles might get the roots to start wrapping around them and maybe break on way to transplant? Perlite isnt that messy, to clean up i just took the hose to it outside! Today is day 2 and my leaves are propped up, and they look great. Hope to see some roots in the next coming week!

Rocklock is an awesome plant! You won't be disappointed. I can't get enough of it..the way it looks, the way it smells, the way it smokes...everything about it. It is my favorite strain thus far.

Oh, as for the rest I can't really help because I have never used Rockwool...I germinate my seeds straight into soil or coco, and I put clones in a cloner...so sorry. But congrats on the Rocklock.

Sadly i cant go in my yard and hose my trays, nosey nosey neighbors and an 70 year old couple that just love to conversate about my life lmao gotta lovem tho. I agree with hydroton , plus its a bit pricey to throw in a tray as a base than the medium. I just looked in my tray today and all 24 ladies have a full mass of roots after 11 days. Not bad, warmth water and light baby! Grow on bub

Glad to hear your babies are all fully rooted!! I am now on day 3 and they look great so far, hopefully they start to show some roots here in the next days!!! I will be cutting more in a week or so for more practice and more care practice as well as I really want to get it down! Sad to hear about the neighbors. I am currently out of the US and there is no hydroton here, so I will be using clay rocks. Even had to make my buckets out of icecream buckets and pool skimmer filters(they have now been covered in black out as the duct tape was not enough). DIY at its finest.

missnu: I am really excited about the RockLock and appreciate your enthusiasm for the plant. Below are a couple more shots just for you(the pic where she is smaller is from July 18, while the bigger pic is from August 2 after cutting off 4 clones, I cant belive how fast she grows in just two weeks OMG ) She was Fimmed on the 23rd!!!

Thanks again guys for all input!
