Main stems are turning brownish gray on my Og's..anyone know why?

I have three Og's that are about 4 and a half months old, they are into their 5th week of flowering and the bottoms of their stems have recently started to turn a brownish gray color and some of the the outer layer of stem is coming off. This has only been happening for about a week or 2 and ive been scraping off the damaged "bark" with a razor that i prune with, Ive also noticed that some small flys have taken to living on and near my plants, ive gotten rid of most of them with vinegar but was wondering if they could be causing this? If anyone can help me it.....would be very greatly appreciated, Ive been told by a fellow grower that it could be stem rot..is there a way to stop that if it is? Hmu and lemme know...P3ACE!

your soil doesnt look so great, could be root rot, you have tons of perlite in there?

Looks to me like something has scraped your stem...but I have never had Root Rot, so if you do have it I couldn't spot it anyway... but your stems look fine to me...guess that doesn't mean too much...

The small flies mean you are overwatering though, which is what causes root rot...

As a plant grows the stem on the bottom starts to get all whitish and peely, but that is normal.

No i have none..the soil is a mix of cow and horse manure and some nice rich vermont dirt, ive been feeding with coffee grounds, egg shells and epsiom salt water as needed. Im trying to keep it as organic as possible, any suggestions?

ok yeah could def be over watering so ill cut back, and its normal for the bark on the bottom to turn white a peel back a little? Ive just been trying to make sure they have enough nutrients because they are budding so yeah prob over watered them a bit

with the manure in your soil like that how i would just be watering her with no nute or extras till she show signs of wanting a lil extra...

Don't water so often...actually don't water at all til the pot gets light...and you should really think about adding perlite to any soil mix before using it in a container...Plants in the ground can handle more than plants in a pot...
And soil in a pot without perlite is just asking for trouble...it is the best thing to hit container gardens ever.

Alright thanks guys I will def cut way back on the watering, I noticed a few weeks ago that the leaves were yellowing right after i triggered them to bud so I think i totally over fed and over watered them, Ill keep and eye on them and see about getting some perlite in the future, Ill post pics again if they dont improve, Thanks everyone for the info and suggestions, P3ACE and Happy Growing!!

To my untrained and inexperienced eye it appears to be nothing more than the natural hardening of the stalk. The base of the stalk will harden and change colour to a greyish tree-like appearance as it ages. That is what I see in those pics. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the stalk is a more toward the brown / black colour (yet at that time it's probably too late).

As stated above, lay off on the watering a little ( I personally use a "lift the pot" method).

Also it's probably a good idea to stop scraping the bark off...
