Aerogarden Round 3: Lowryder #2

I got a AG deluxe and cant get shit to grow. What the fuck. Ive germinated seeds in a paper towel, they popped I put them in the ag , no nutes, 20/4 lighting and nothing, Ive also put seeds strait into the ag, sometimes the seeds pop sometime not. both times 4 weeks in and I had seeds with little roots sticking out and that was it so I scrapped them.

this roundIve got them to start srouting roots but thats it, been like 3 weeks on this batch. One grew so that the top of the seed remainig pushed throught the top of the AG foam but that was like 4 days ago an no progress since.

Ive bought 4 26 watt 6500k cfls and an airstone and nothing has helped. so I stopped using them, Im using distilled water, I believe thats correct. I boil a gallon then pour it in a container let it cool and added it the following day. No Nutes . this is killing me I have a flowering cabinet that i plan to fill with clones of a plant from the AG but cannit get that far.

I am using bag seeds but so do alot of people, Do the dark seeds work better than the light ones? Ive tried both and both sucked. Could I have a PH problem,

Please help me out

Your boiling distilled water? This is pointless. Distilled water has already been boiled to remove almost all minerals that are good for us and plants. I think you might want to try some aged tap water if you have access to it. You also said your using no nutes, even 4 weeks in? You have to give them something to grow off of. After they sprout give them some nutriets so they can grow. Also distilled water is around 7.0PH, not optimal. Invest in a tester, I did and it hepled alot. Bottom line is you gotta feed them somthing besides pure H2O to get them to grow.

I boiled tap water to make it distilled.

If I fill a jug with tap water and let it sit over night or longer is that aged?

Should I give them some nutes right after the seed pops and shows roots? Or should I wait till i see a plant coming through? Cause I cant even get to that stage . Ive ordered a ph meter and and bought some ph up and down from petsmart, should be good after that right?

boiling tap water doesn;t make it distilled.
I had a similar problem it is the pH and nutes... since its aero try for a pH of 5.5-5.8. This should make it grow (your plant cannot survive or even grow w/out nutes.

I think I'll get 14 grams from the one on the right and 7 from the little one on the left...

Not much but cool with me...it may be more...

not much is changing I guess the buds might be getting a little bigger but its hard to tell...

I hope they still grow over the next two weeks, I assume they will...

it may be more.......... dude..... your cuttin yourself short! i bet you get at least 20 grams dry from the one on the right AT LEAST.

Yea i am having a hell of a time with mine also. i popped my beans in about 2 weeks ago they germed in one and sprouted. i was using well water ph ed down to 6.5 or so and they doing great the first week. i then cleaned out my res and filled it with bottled distalled water and added a 1/4 of a tomato grow ag nut tab and wrapped a survival blanket around the AG. i montered the temp for about 5 hours and relised it was getting to hot (90 degrees F) so i droppped the survivial blanket and let them go for another 4 days and the upper leafs (i have a pair of rounded leafs and a pair of the jagged ones, the jagged ones are the upper set and the ones taking the worst of the beating) on the little fella's started turning yellow. I thought maybe it was a lack of nuts so i added another 1/4 of a tablet and the leafs started to droop and yellowed even more.

I went another 3 days and no change. So last night i emptied my res and put in straight bottled distalled water (ph about 6.5)

I was gonna check them tonight and see if it made any difference. If there is no change should i go ahead and take other measures to get them heading the right direction or wait longer?

I also read above that distalled water is not good because it is lacking in minerals. I have well water (ph about 7.0 outta the tap and fairly hard water)

  • should i just scrape the distilled water and go back to the PH ed well water then try adding the AG nut?
  • just scrape the ag nuts and go down and get some real hydro nuts?
  • if i get hydro nuts should i use well water or distalled?
so any insight would be much appreciated.

5.5 really? that seems really low. but if it will save my babies i will do it :P. but hey how will my nuts affect a ph reading? the nuts i switched to also act as a Ph indicator when you add it to the water it changes the color of the water according to what the ph is.

Hey I was wondering how did you feed the fox farm nutes throught the aerogarden did you just use it mixed in with the water er what?

Hey man I was wondering where you got those great lights? I'm using an AG to grow my medicine, and I tried xenon lights as a suppliment. That didn't work. They burned a few leaves. Anyway,I was curious about the lights.

Do not use well water it is not good for hydro. Keep using the distilled water and keep the pH at 5.5 for the first couple of weeks. You can add a drop of SuperThrive or Liquid Carma but do do give them any nutes untill day 7 from sprout.
