600w ballast ..

Hi im a newbie ..i have purchased a 600 w ballast it comes with a lamp and bulb it says 600w sodium lamp,but says nothing about it being a hps bulb . Would it be safe to use a 600w hps bulb ?

It will tell you on the ballast.

Is it a magnetic or digital?

Like i said, read the labels on the ballast and it will tell you. Look for the make and model number of the ballast and research that specific model online and see what it tells you.

Yup as long as it doesnt say MH Metal Halide , Hps stands for High Pressure Sodium so you should be good. Good luck!

A magnetic just means it won't run HPS and MH (i think only digitals run both. Correct me if I'm wrong) so yours being magnetic and if it doesn't say MH on it, then you should be good running HPS bulbs.
