looking for opinions/help.

how many plants (not sog or scrog) would you recommend for a 4'x5' grow space 7 ft in height (there is a seperate space for veg so this is just flowering). Their are two HID lights 600w hps and 400w hps running simultaneous. Just want to get some opinions on how many full sized plants one would use with a set up of this size.

no more than 12. they wont get huge because you should leave a 2 ft walkway on one side

Their is a walkway and extra space around. the 4'x5' is pure grow space. Though I was still thinking 12 max. Just wondering if anyone thought 9 larger may get better yield and final product or if people thought 12 would yield better. Just not sure If I want to go with fewer larger plants or more slightly smaller. Thanks for your feed back, looking for as many opinions as I can get on this one.

Dude, I grow AK99 and those will get to monster status if you treat them right. Make sure to pick your best couple of females out of the group and let those be your mother plants.

The quality isn't gonna change whether you have 2 or 10 plants in there, but your quanity will, because the fewer plants; the more light each will get. For huge buds go with 8 plants, for just lots of weight; pile them in there SOG style.

Since you haven't sexed them yet, does that mean you are still vegging? soon as I get a chance I'll give ya a peek (i'll need to borrow a camera from someone). I am still vegging planning on another 2-4 weeks depending on how tall they get. How much do they grow in flowering in your experience. I know everyone just says double to triple, but you obviously have some experience with this strain. I have no interest in sog I just want to know whether to go for 8-9 or 12, if 12 won't give me a significant yield advantage i would rather stick to 9. I was actually considering eventually doing 10 5 ready to harvest and 5 one month behind to get a yield every month or so, but I'm not quite sure on the logistics of this set up yet. I do have a decent sized space 6'x5'x3.5' for veg/mothers as well. Are you suggesting to wait until flowering to clone with this strain because I've never heard of people doing that on purpose before, let me know. Thanks for all of your help once again. rep.

also would you have any estimate on yield, it is all organic, foxfarm soil, earth juice 5 part nute system, plenty ventilation and modest co2 levels, temps around 75-80, they are well taken care of. Just curious.

for this i would stay at 8 plants and try and minipulate the growth by tying branches in certain directions for more light.
also to find out sex of plant before cloning...you might have to do it the long way and clone one and see if it turns out. then you will still have the mama in veg and you can still use her.

yeah my plan was to just take one or two clones from each ak99 and then just dump the clones that came from fathers, once I find out. Probably use the clone from the best mother for the next gen mother plant. I have extra space for clones so i figure i might as well just do them all instead of waiting for flowering to clone or moving to flowering and then revegging.

Sure you have! There were some super heavy weights that chimes in on cloning during flowering, in the link that I sent you. Hmmm, makes me think that you did not read it? If you don't really want help, why are you asking for it? If you came here to show everyone how much you know, I'll concede for everyone right now. You get the honor of being the person that knows everything!!!... lol...

Anyway, let's assume you could use a little information to point you in the right direction. And hey, it's good to hear that you are still vegging.

And I only mentioned that you can clone in flowering cause I didn't know whether you were still vegging or not. And didn't want you to feel that you'd missed the opportunity. Also, you will still want to take some clones during flowering after you have sexed your plants. Just be sure to read the link that I gave you on it. And be sure to read the links that I am giving you now.

Here's what you want to do:

Step 1 - Try to let them veg until they are huge, between 14-18 inches and along the way to that height you will want to:
- LST them... International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - LST training in detail. Why bushes are better

Step 2 - Take 2-5 clones from each plant
- mark/label each clone and the plants that they come from
- make sure that they have taken root, before moving on to next step

Step 3 - Now that all of your surviving clones have taken root (approx 7 days), put all of your vegging plants into your flowering room (not the clones)

Step 4 - On approx day 4 of flowering you will see the sex of all of the plants in your flowering room
- throw away the males and their corresponding clones
- continue to flower the remaining plants in your flowering room (this method just saved you minimum, 3 weeks time)

Step 5 - Veg your clones per Step 1
- choose a couple of those clones to be mother plants
- take clones from the mother plants and let them veg to a height that is to your choosing
- pretty much everything else is the same all over again, except you don't have to worry about sexing anymore because you now only have females

If you veg your AK99s until they are 18 inches, they will finish at approx 4-5 feet; so around 3 times their vegging height. But even if you don't want to wait long enough for them to veg to 18 inches and say start to flower at 12 inches, they will be monsters all the same!

The AK99 in the attached pictures were only veg'ed long enough to root and then put right into service, they are all between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet tall; but notice the yield!!! ... BTW - not my pictures, they belong to SoQuick of ICMag.

Sure I could give a guesstimate on 8 plants, with ideal conditions - avg. 5 oz each X 8 = 40 ozs / 16 = 2.5 lbs dried. For more info on AK99 and to read the thread that got me started on growing it back in 2004, take a look at this...

It is best (and this is the quickest way) to choose your mother from among the clones that you take. Sure, since they are properly marked, you should choose the ones from the best of the females in your flowering room.

Okay, so at this point you are all set. I do advise you to seek more info and continue to learn about the wonderful hobby of growing weed. Just be careful when you go to prison… oh wait, I meant just be careful who you tell – cause they will snitch on you in a heartbeat!!!

I did go to your link, I just asked that question immediately after reading your post before I checked it out. I have done some research already on lst and fimming/topping I really need to research the cloning a bit more, thanks ahead o time for some good info on that. Thanks again for your help.
