just try to learn as much as possible with this grow id say, if you get a female you should attempt to take the lowest branches as clips so you dont eliminate any useful tops. as for the branches not growing opposite of each other, it doesnt really show maturity, but under your lighting it might be a better idea to start flower around 6 inches, they can stretch 2.5x their size sometimes(some strains even more) so training might be necessary to get any lumens to anywhere besides the highest node. 3 ft of vertical space is plenty for a scrog grow or training, so you got a lot to work with if you tie it down or make it grow along the tubes. how tall is it now anyway? pics may help to make suggestions.
