I have my babies (3 weeks) in 8" diameter pots (don't know the actual size), what pot size should I get for then to grow up to 4-5ft? I have a 6x3 area so I can't go to large. What ya think? Also when is it fine to add bytes? Any good starter recommendations?

5 gallon pots is plenty big, home depot has 5 gallon buckets for 2.50$... You can begin to feed at half strength now if ya want...cheap starter that works goos id Alaskan Fish Ferts ..great for veg and almost impossible to burn the plants.

Bigger the pot the bigger the plant. But if size in room or tent prevents it not much you can do, how about long rectangular pots they are not that tall but you can get a 5 gallon or larger for sure. Give the roots somewhere to go.

^ good advice, and you can tie the tops to keep them horizontal ...I think I have a close situation as you and I have some in 5 gallon pots...they have been topped 5 times already..sprouted on may 5th...Hawaiian skunk x romulan....I kind of wish I started them 2 weeks later...I have taken clones and topped the shit of these plants but they just want to get huge...they are now like 3.5 feet tall but 3 feet wide ..they could be a problem in september with getting too big...but you starting this late..couple tops and you should not have any problems keeping them under 6 feet.

Start tying them down also, I am doing this now and it works. Every time I bend her over i get at least tow new upgoing branches that will have colas. Wish I had tied down before. They stay low and yeild more.

Good avdice fellas, I actually have 5 more I just started so I'm gonna get them caught up before I add nutes and flower. When is a good height to top for the first time if I want them to be 4 ft? I got wonder woman and sour diesel strains. I've never tried tieing tops down, Not sure if I would have enough room with 6 plants in there.

I like to top early and often, I usually top as soon as I know a plant can handle it easily..some strains are 6 inches others are 10 before they get topped.
